Wanted to share a small victory.
I had a minor problem with the purchase of a new kind of mask for my CPAP machine. I wanted to switch to a full face mask, but found that I couldn't bear it, being claustrophobic. After extensive research, I had purchased through an online store, because while their policy was that they couldn't refund on an opened mask, they were willing to issue a store credit. That was fine with me. When I called, the chirpy young thing who answered the call annoyed me with her constant interrupting me whenever I tried to speak. She kept repeating the same thing over and over as if I were hard of hearing or something.
I used to be in sales, and the worst thing you can do is not allow people to speak their mind.
I finally (and politely) asked her to stop speaking and let me finish what I was saying. Why do people think that interrupting and talking over people is an effective way to communicate? She kept starting to speak and I would say, Please let me finish. She finally listened. I was able to negotiate a purchase of replacement supplies for my existing mask, thus utilizing my store credit in a way that made sense to me.
