Brits brace for invasion of the ultra rats

I don’t get this. I thought it was some new species. Rats are very smart but if they try to come in the house, it’s war. People in the us would quickly use them for target practice lol.

Warm weather and abundant food cause rats to "grow to the side of rabbits"?

I think there is some screwball "science" at work here.

I talk to guys on a dog site in the UK. They have packs of terriers and go onto farms destroying hundreds of rats. They reckon they have had to abandon some farms as the rats are immune to baits. They are very smart and avoid traps, the guys are always working on new types to trick them. Bear traps may be the go, lol.

We have rats that weigh 20 pounds or more. They are huge and the first time someone sees one they are SHOCKED. The good news is that they don't mess with people or our things much and live in the swamps. The only people and places where they are a problem are rice farmers because they will mess up the levees that flood and drain the rice fields. They have a bounty on them and pay people to kill them. They are not native species and are considered invasive so have no protection.
