New here, but want suggestions, please

Welcome Walk, an interesting name, does it have a special meaning? Sorry to hear you have had a scare. Most of us here have had events happen to us, so we know the fear it brings. I would really suggest reading through the suggestions Debi posted to you above. The St. Michaels prayer is very powerful and said before going to sleep will protect you through the night. I personally would suggest wearing a blessed medal to bed also. I don't know your religious prefrence but if you are of the faith, that might give you more assurance while you are sleeping. Stale energy caused from a closed up house may have been an attraction for whatever is in that area. I think after you shake out the dust and sweep the floors the energy will not be as attractive. Play happy music and lighten your mood too. Anything you can do to raise the vibes in the house. keep us posted on your situation. Best of luck.
Hi Lynne, thanks for your response. Exactly, I've had the doors and windows open as much as possible, literally to let the sunshine in!
My name is from a Bob Dylan song, and just a joke about my age.
I appreciate everyone's suggestions, and am feeling a lot more comfortable.

The thought there might be electronic devices in the house was why I asked her to describe the voice she heard. Debi's point about a nearby ham operator is also valid.
Yikes, I hadn't even considered this possibility. Good point. Now you've given me a whole new category of things to worry about. I will follow up on this, just in case. Thanks again!

The credit for this line of thinking should go to JahaRa and Debi, I merely agreed with their observations.

Please have the house searched for electronic devices. That is the first thing you should look for, if you find nothing then think about the paranormal. You could let someone send you to crazy town if you don't first explore the physical options before going to paramormal. The other suggestion I have is to quit your rental and find a new one.
Good points, thanks for bringing this up. I will follow up on your suggestions.

I believe people are pretty rational. It is possible for devices to be in the house, but unless it is an insect drone that flies up to ear and speaks to you...Plus, not the first time renting this place, so what motive would landlord have to install devices, nor any experience in prior stays. Sorry, doesn't add up. The potential for being 'surveilled' would send someone to crazy town quicker than potential visitation. I'll stick with my gut feeling on this one. No crazy town for you Walk :)

Going sort of off topic quick, i apologize Walk. Some years back i took my then girlfriend to an 'upscale' inn for a night. When we walked up to door to our suite, i noticed a small odd door next to ours. Being in construction, i was curious of it's placement and purpose. It only had a deadbolt on it. Didn't think of it till upon entering the spacious suite, i felt as though we were being watched the entire time. The wall adjoining the strange door was completely mirrored. Needless to say, we did not have the quiet, intimate night we planned...though we agreed if they wanted a 'show', we gave it to them lol. This place has been closed now for many years...go figure. Point being, trust your instincts.

Ugh, that is super creepy. Glad you were aware you were being watched!

Welcome Walk! Good job looking into the history surrounding the property. I live just outside Denver near a road rumored to be haunted, but most of the stories sound like urban legends so it's hard to figure out sometimes what is and isn't true.

I'll also add to those saying to search the property for any electronic equipment, especially if there was a Ham radio enthusiast in that house prior. Having had a number of "unexplainable" events happen to and around me I always try to exhaust any normal explanations before I let myself believe that a paranormal one may exist. I once knew a woman who was experiencing odd things in her house; cabinets, furniture, clothes and other things seemed to be moved, opened or otherwise in a different state from how she left them. She was so convinced that she had a ghost that she saged and blessed the house while setting up a tent in the backyard to sleep in so she would feel safe. After several months of this she discovered that it was her ex-husband who had made a copy of her house key and was sneaking in and moving things around. Apparently he was planning to point out her "paranoid behavior" as a sign of mental issues to get out of paying alimony and getting ownership of the house. It was a real life Scooby-Doo scheme and he would have gotten away with it is it weren't for some meddling kids looking for the rational explanation.

I agree, selectric, and as far as I know, I don't have any enemies or stalkers (pauses to knock on wood). The only thing I could think of is that maybe a year round resident wants to rent this house, or feels I don't deserve it since I'm only here in the summer. So I thought it's possible they're trying to get me to leave. But I think if that were the case, there would have been more incidents than just the one I experienced the first night.
I can't thank all of you enough for your help and suggestions. It's been so helpful just to be able to have the discussion without people thinking I'm nuts.

Most of us have had paranormal events happen, Walk. We believe you and we're glad you found us.
