Odd thing i used to hate apple pie when i was younger. Now, a good piece with some vanilla ice cream oh yeahWhat are some traditional US desserts? Obviously I know about things like apple and cherry pie but are there more obscure ones that I won't have heard of? I think we've wandered slightly off topic, so apologies Debi!
Yep, I think that's what I said: "However, I can't stand jelly, which you call jello."No, not confused; I think you meant that what we call jello here (dessert) is referred to as jelly by people in the UK. Right? and BTW, I can't stand jello. Always hated it even as a child; a sensory issue, I suspect!
I agree about under cooked egg white. Truly gross!Yep, I think that's what I said: "However, I can't stand jelly, which you call jello."
Yes, my dislike of jelly (what you call jello) is a sensory thing also! Also, undercooked egg white...eewww!
Hmmm...the nut tarts sound quite nice. I don't like molasses, so the Shoo Fly pie is out. I could probably get on board with Kiffles but I'm not sure about the Apple Fritters... Which do you like, Garnet?I agree about under cooked egg white. Truly gross!
The USA has a wide variety of desserts, base upon region. For example, here in Pennsylvania, some popular desserts are Nut Tossies, which are tiny tarts, the dough part has cream cheese mixed in and it is filled with a caramel nut mixture, Shoo Fly pie, which is molasses (or treacle as you might call it) Kiffles, a cream cheese dough rolled and filled with apricot or other fruit jam and baked, and of course Dutch Apple Fritters, slices of apple dipped in batter and deep fried.
Kinda bubbly apple juice with a dash of spice.Surely it's just apple juice otherwise?
My favorites are the nut tossies and the kiffles. I can easily go overboard on those! They make them at a local farmer's market, but I also know how to make them.Hmmm...the nut tarts sound quite nice. I don't like molasses, so the Shoo Fly pie is out. Sounds nice! As long as the spice isn't cinnamon!Kinda bubbly apple juice with a dash of spice.
Sounds as if you're great in the kitchen! I'm useless myself, although I do make a good chilli. My favorites are the nut tossies and the kiffles. I can easily go overboard on those! They make them at a local farmer's market, but I also know how to make them.
Now see, I LOVE cinammon! However, pumpkin spice anything is a big old NO for me.Sounds nice! As long s the spice isn't cinnamon!
