The Heat is On...

supposed to top 100 degrees all next week for us too, which is normal for summer here but this is a month early this year.. this is why 90% of all dinners are cooked outside with us during the summer. having awnings over all the front facing windows makes a huge difference also. air conditioning or at least an actual attic fan if your house has the right floorplan can work too.... and trees to shade the house.

Reminder to all pet owners: Don't leave dogs and cats outside in this heat. If you must, be sure they have plenty of fresh water, shade, and even a small children's pool to lie around in. Some breeds are especially sensitive to heat, including most bully breeds such as bulldogs as they can't cool themselves.

yep, farmers are going to have to use an extra months worth of water for the crops this year. going to be early water shortages and lower than normal lake levels by september. drought season going to hit fast this summer i think, the midwest and lower west coast may be struggling by the end of july

We've had a very wet spring around my area, but it's isolated. My friend has tender crops in and she's worried about them.

we have had a wet year, but its not like normal, like the heat it was also early, very mild winter with a lot of rain that should have been in april and may but was instead in february and march. with the way the corp. of engineers projects and releases the lake levels a bad or early summer can deplete the water supply (lake levels) very quickly. which in turn causes us to shut the dams and choke alabama and florida from their water supply. chain reaction occurs, this is what the midwest and so. cal could experiance. causing a crop problem way too early.

We'll be cooking up some taco meat and freezing part of it tomorrow while it's still cool. Easy grab suppers along the way. My son is going to help with some "pre-cooking" so we can have part of these meals to come ready to throw together.
