Business Hauntings??

It is definitely not that far from Wormsloe plantation. My residence is not that far from Wormsloe plantation. the area where I saw the man in the overalls walking the dog, that turned out to be an apparition, was VERY close to Wormsloe.

Yes - the area near Bonaventure has many stories. I have some friends and relatives buried in a Cemetery down from Bonaventure, and it has many tales as well. That's the area where the mansion burned down while the owners were having a dinner party outside. To this day, if it's very quiet, you can hear the partiers' crystal glassware shattering against the trees.

One thing I've noticed since going down this path is that spirits are EVERYWHERE. It's a rare building or even unbuilt ground that has NO activity at all. Really surprised me once it became apparent. The places with no resident spirits are in the minority, oddly enough. Fortunately most spirits are not malevolent or irksome. They leave us alone if we leave them alone.

Also, the area where my friends used to live where I saw what I am going to call a "shadow person," for lack of a better term, was near the grounds of the old Coldbrook plantation.

Another oddity that I noted within the past year or so was actually in my own backyard. I had a Ring security camera set up by my back door. (I know this is a strange place for a ring doorbell cam, but I was having problems with a neighbor coming into my yard and aggravating my dog.) One thing my boyfriend noticed on cam live-views was a number of orbs in my back yard. At first we thought they were maybe insects flying around, but my boyfriend quickly discounted that theory. Interestingly enough, right after we noticed the orbs, I got a message from Ring that the device required charging of the battery. I took the doorbell camera down to charge it, and it would never work again. Interesting...to say the least.

I love savannah, will move back after retirement. now i get back just 5 or 6 times a year to refresh the soul

Welcome Bee. Thank you for sharing your experiences. I know how hard it is sometimes to talk about this stuff and not sound crazy. I spent several years trying to be a "level headed skeptic" but it's like something in the universe took that as a challenge and kept sending things my way that I couldn't explain.

As far as haunted buildings vs haunted land, both are possibilities. I had a friend in New Mexico who bought a house before it was even completed in a new neighborhood that had just been empty land before. A few weeks after moving in he invited me over along with all his new neighbors, which was only about 4-5 as most houses were still empty and for sale. At one point he took me aside and started telling me about weird things that were happening since he moved in, mostly shadow figures and items being knock over. A neighbor overheard us talking and said "Oh, you have ghosts here too." He then called over another neighbor who confirmed that the same activity was happening in her new home as well. The male neighbor said that it was nothing to worry about, the valley where this new housing was built had at one point been the main path the native people had followed when the migrated north and south for summer and winter. It was not uncommon for members of the tribes to die while making this trip so the shadows are just that, shadow remnants of those trying to get to warmer climate.

You mentioned having a Ring doorbell. While these things are great for home security reasons they are a double edged sword for paranormal investigators. Being digital video recorders there are a variety of program errors that can occur during the process of taking images from the camera and converting then into a computer code video file. What you are seeing is a pixilated representation of what the camera could capture. Quick motions, changes in lighting and numerous other natural occurrences can make something ordinary look unreal. This is not to say that this is the only explanation for every instance of Ring video evidence, but I've seen many of these videos that definitely look like technology issues rather than paranormal.

Regarding the Ring doorbell camera footage, originally, I felt that it was insects flying around near a light source on the outside of the house (my back porch does not have a light fixture, but a floodlight was added to the side of the house to shine directly on the back door). However, there were large moving spheres of light out past the reach of the light. They were almost need a storage shed at my fenceline. Way beyond where the light could reach. I am still of the opinion that it was a reflection of some flying insects of which, here in the Southern states, are many. My boyfriend believes that the spheres of light were orbs. I'm not totally convinced of that.

A friend of mine thinks that I am sensitive to the paranormal. I'm not sure why she says this - maybe just because I've seen things. Regardless, I weird feelings inside of my house at all EXCEPT in my laundry room, which is creepy, and one of my bedrooms. I should say that this one bedroom has a history of sorts. My brother dabbled in the occult at one point and drew a pentagram on the wall near the light switch. After he moved away, my father remodeled the bedroom for me, and, in doing so, I asked him to cut out the section of the wall that had the pentagram on it. I was just creeped out by it. After several strange occurrences in this particular bedroom, I asked my father if he cut out the pentagram, to which he responded that he just paneled over it with new paneling. Maybe it's just me feeling uneasy about knowing that the pentagram is still there, but I've never felt comfortable in that room. Since both of my parents have passed away and I own the house now, I have never had the room remodeled. That is on my to-do list. Maybe I'll feel more comfortable once I know it's gone for good.

Paulm, I think my friend may know the garden of which you speak. She has lived in the area near Wormsloe for many years and has heard of numerous people reporting apparitions in that area.

Fixed-focus lenses turn a lot of flying debris into "orbs". We did extensive testing and found that most orbs were simply unfocused "other stuff". Once the focus position of the lens was changed, many of these "orbs" resolved into dust & other wind-carried debris. A neighbor's clothes dryer vent, for example, a hundred yards away, can be a source for an orb "army" and it's in fact nothing more than lint.

Be very discriminating when it comes to "orbs". Most have very mundane explanations. Not all, but most.
