What's your guilty pleasure food?

The food at the fair this year was disappointing. I have never seen fried Oreos before! Years ago, there was a lot of good stuff, freshly made, like grilled sausages, apple dumplings with cream, corn on the cob, etc. At least they still had Funnel cake and cotton candy! Times change.

Fair vendors have to pass a jury. These days they look for attention-getting stuff instead of the traditional fare (fair fare lol) we grew up with.

Every day my past seems more like a fantasy novel of an imaginary, weirdly parallel world that is set in the sixties and sepia-toned with occassional bursts of color.

Great description, GW! That's exactly how I feel. This was the very first time that I didn't have anything to eat at the fair. At least I had fun petting the animals in the stock pen!

I shall refrain from asking any further questions about food. BTW, I just had a bowl of vanilla ice cream and I added chopped pineapples to the mix. Not bad.
They're my favorite deserts, ice cream and fruit, stewed apples. I prefer not to have the pie crust.

Homemade or store bought Kellogg's Rice Krispies are also a MUST. Or something loaded with sugar like Rock or Cotton Candy. I don't overindulge, but god forbid if I did. Intense sugar rush. Chips and salsa is another and preferably Spicy Sweet Chili or Ranch Doritos with almost any higher quality salsa. Mrs. Renfro's or Desert Pepper Trading Company salsa is by far some of the best I've ever had.

Something sweet? Salty?
Salty are my favorite snacks. I do like the combination. I find it interesting that salt is often added to sweet baked dishes. I guess the idea is to give your mouth a taste sensation / explosion ?

Who has tried hot salted french fries and ice cream ? Separate dishes. Grab a fry and dip in the ice cream. Yum !
