Who's your favorite character all time from a western TV series or movie? Feel free to mention the name of the actor/series, but tell us the character name and why you liked that character.

Well, you ALL know my vast and complete knowledge of all things Western TV...lol However, my favorite character from the West was actually Quigley Down Under, Matthew Quigley, played by Tom Selleck. Loved that movie. Cowboy from the West goes to Australia.

Now, if we stay here in the US, I have to say Festus Haggan is one of my favorite characters on Gunsmoke. Why? Because he was always played as a kind, good hearted soul who was loyal and always fair. Ken Curtis played that role and was great in it.

Paladian from the TV series, "Have Gun, Will Travel." Played by Richard Boone, he was a West Point graduate turned hired gun in the old West. When not actively plying his trade, he was a high class dandy living in a luxury hotel in San Francisco. He was TV's first anti-hero, and a serious badass. He also had a great theme song.

Runner up is the Waco Kid from "Blazing Saddles" as played by Gene Wilder. The Kid was a former "fastest gun in the West" until he became a drunk. With the help of Sheriff Bart, he sobered up, regained his gun fighting skills, and helped save the good citizens of Rock Ridge.

I love Paladin. And the theme song was great.

Val Kilmer as 'Doc' Holliday in Tombstone. Together with Alabama born Michael Biehn as Johnny Ringo, they stole the scene here:

I have always liked watching Clint Eastwood in various westerns, but I particularly liked him as William Munny in Unforgiven.

He has an 'air' about him, probably from playing in so many cowboy films, but this one had a really good twist to the story - the family man, come farmer, who actually turns out to be an outlaw and, in his own words, 'killed women and children..........killed everything that walks or crawls at one time or another'.

On top of that, he directed and produced the movie as well.

Another great western actor for sure.
