Last night I was walking around the house and yard with an EMF detector. It's one I haven't used on an investigation yet so wanted to use it a bit and try it out since I saw one being used on one of the paranormal cable shows recently. The house was pretty quiet except for the top of the stove, something electrical in there I'm sure, and one wall that probably has a switched hot/neutral wire leading to an outlet. But otherwise no EM energy worth noting.

In the backyard however, I found a surprise. There was a huge bubble around my vegetable garden, a volume about 15 feet wide by 30 feet long, long axis running east-west. Up to 20mG along the centerline, dropping off to zero seven feet to either side of center. From ground level up to as high as I could hold the detector. I stayed for some ten minutes, establishing the perimeter of the field. It was new for me, I have never detected it before and I have audited the property carefully many times with all of our gear. I went back inside to get my wife and show her, when we came back out, the field was gone! Not a trace!

I have never experienced a transient field that large before. I don't think it was spirit energy or a portal, as I probably would have felt those without instrumentation. I'm wondering if it's possible for a magnetic field line of earth to become detached and dive into the planet's surface at a random point, perhaps? I wish I had the ability to detect the current flow direction, but I don't. Just intensity at specific locations. I want to see if the big field comes back in coming days.

Suggestions? Ideas? Comments welcome.

The detector is pretty nifty, the light on the probe changes from green (safe) to yellow (caution) to red (hazardous EMF levels). Has backlighting capability for the display, as well as a built-in white-light flashlight. Data hold, temperature features. OEM item made under several names, typically $20 to $30 online.

First thing I'd do is verify the instrument was operating properly. Does the item have BIT and/or self calibration capabilities? Have you researched to see if there is a history of the item having transient readings issues? If not, I'd contact the manufacturer to get their input. I'd also check with people outside the paranormal area who would use this type equipment, like electrical contractors, to see what experience they might have with it. If there is a national association of electrical contractors, they might even have a database similar to GIDEP.

Excellent advice, but probably not something I would have time to do in the short-term.

First thing I'm going to do, Duke, that I do have the time for, is check it against our other EMF detectors. This one has no calibration ability. It is a recently offered product so not sure about any history but I will research that as time permits. It is also a consumer-grade item so it's nothing you'd find in a defense-contractor's shop.

I normally eschew digital meters for the paranormal because they lack the delicate nuanced feedback of an analog meter. You're stuck with the increments it's display is designed for. I have an old analog Tri-Field Meter that has been checked against a professional meter and it is quite good. In the short term, I can compare readings from the new unit with the Tri-Field. We always use two different meters on investigations, to help guard against random hits and glitches.

Last night didn't behave like a glitch or random hit. The field was very well-defined and for the ten minutes I walked around it, it didn't change. It was large enough to envelope a delivery van. But five minutes later, all trace of it was gone. There are no power lines within 50 yards, and those are not high-tension lines.

I'm thinkin', Debi... this really didn't have the paranormal (spiritual) vibe to it.

I want to keep poking a possible natural cause for a bit. With the earth's magnetic field on the probable cusp of a polarity reversal, it has crossed my mind that something like last night might be a byproduct of such a process.

Anecdotally to this, when I first went out back on the patio last night with the meter, I stopped next to my BBQ grill/smoker. It is a favorite spot for a small entity that likes to hang out by the back door of the garage. It wanders in the garage at times, I chase it out when I encounter it. I have learned to detect it without instruments thanks to mentoring by a friend who is also a Sensitive. We have verified my ability with the SLS (and other Sensitives but of course that isn't evidence). The detector showed just a brief hit when I waved it in his spot, then nothing. I continued on the patio and suddenly felt it trying to dart in front of me from the side. As it passed the meter in my hand, it went off for an instant. Then it was gone, headed over to the blackberry bramble. It is suspected that the bramble and the small wooden shed next to it is home to a group of elementals that have existed here with native Americans since ancient Lake Bonneville last dried-up to become the modern day Great Salt Lake, some ten thousand years ago IIRC.

Edit: The Great Salt Lake is considered to have been "born" 13,000 years ago. Wikipedia Link

The magnetic anomalies at Skinwalker may be totally non-paranormal, as you state with the magnetic flux's happening. The ground itself may have some unusual properties that allow the anomalies to happen.

In the case that you already know you have elementals running amok they may have gathered for a meeting under the tomatoes! lol

Well, there's also the silver tic tacs I saw flying over the valley last winter, in the NV binocular.

Haven't seen them since, however.

You are right up there close enough to pull that energy in.

Its back, at 5 o'clock.

Actually getting a yellow warning light at the center.

But I think I have it figured out and it's pretty mundane. I could know tonight if I'm right but Im pretty sure now. Stay tuned.
