Hi everyone, I’m excited to join this community! I have kind of an older experience that I’ve been trying to figure out for years. I had this experience over a decade ago and I still have no idea what it was, I’m very curious to see if this rings any bells for anyone here.

One night when I was in my late teens I woke up in the middle of the night (I don’t quite remember what time it was when I woke up) and noticed something dark floating at the end of my bed, just past my feet. I had an alarm clock that had cast a low amount of light into the room, and from that I could just make out a black, spherical mass with this insanely creepy face. It just had eyes and a mouth, but the eyes had this really angry look to them and the mouth reminded me of a Cheshire cat kind of smile. Obviously this scared me, so I kicked at it and the thing bounced around my room for a moment, knocked into a picture frame which then fell off my dresser, and then just disappeared without a trace.

Shortly after this I saw three soft flashes of white light outside my window through the blinds. I froze for a while, because I was paralyzed by fear (after quickly turning on the lights) and tried to try to process what I had just seen, and then tried to write it all down just to get the details in order, and I think to give myself something to look back on later as a reminder that I actually did see what I had just seen.

A few years later I was hanging out with one of my friends, and she introduced me to someone who was into ghost stories, so I told her this story and before I could describe the thing she interrupted me and described it first! Apparently she had a very similar encounter of her own, but unfortunately she didn’t know what the thing was either.

Have any of you ever encountered anything like this, or even heard of this? I’ve tried doing some research but I’ve honestly always had a hard time just figuring out where to start, or even how to google this thing.

Hi and welcome! Well, the Cheshire Cat image is a new one to me, and I've been around for a long time. However, the shadow part of it could be related to Shadow People. There's a lot we don't understand about these entities.

Have you had any previous connections with the Alice in Wonderland image?

Sounds like the face of the Joker from Batman.

Something in the ballpark of a shadow figure is where I’ve kind of landed too. The only thing that seems odd is that this had such clearly distinguishable features instead of just being totally dark.

I can’t think of any other connections to an Alice in Wonderland image, but that’s never crossed my mind before. I’ll think that over and see if any possible ties might exist.

Welcome to the forum Bass. I have heard of something similar, not one I've had to deal with though. You wonder what these could be, obviously there to frighten you and enough energy to move objects. There are so many variables with entities you may never find out, you rarely do with anything paranormal. What is frightening is you don't know their agenda, probably beyond our understanding anyway. Just something passing through? It did sound scared of you so maybe nothing too negative. I've had a fair few things happen myself, I think it's the mystery of them that's really intriguing and makes you dig deeper.

When I was small I had a nightmare that I still remember. I saw the character Boris Badanoff from Bullwinkle in my room! It must have been 1960 or so. A long time ago. But was it Boris or something my mind said was him because I had not index of experiences to draw from? I have a tendency to have nightmares when I am sick or going to be so. They are real and spooky but still my subconcious saying hey look out. Prepare. I am not saying that is what your experience was but its also true it may have been a spirit of some sort.

Just adding to that could you have sensed something negative around, drawn to you when sick, you picked it up as bad and pictured it as the baddest thing you knew at the time, which was Boris?

Hi and welcome! It does sound like a shadow figure to me. I saw one once and it had pinpoints of light for eyes, so sometimes features are visible even with these entities.
