I WAS ONCE THE QUEEN OF GARDENING. NOW MY SON TENDS A FEW TOMATO PLANTS, CUCUMBERS AND ONIONS FOR ME IN A SMALL SPACE.

DO YOU PLAN ON GROWING SOME FOOD THIS YEAR? IT APPEARS THERE IS ALREADY A RUN ON SEEDS OUT THERE. IF YOU ARE, WHAT ARE YOU PLANTING? IS THIS DUE TO THE PANDEMIC OR HIGH FOOD PRICES?

MY HUBS STILL WANTS A COW FOR THE BACKYARD. I HAVE NIXED THAT IDEA.

Herbs.
Remember that episode when we were listening to Art Bell in the middle of the night together; and I wanted to cook a pork tenderloin on the grill and didn't have any Rosemary?
Never again.

I'd want to grow tomatoes
Even if you just grow some in pots tomatoes taste so much better home grown, most veg does. It's Autumn here but I'm living now in semi tropics so puting in tomatoes, cucumber, broccoli, beans and more. Just pjcked some Dragon fruit, they didn't impress with much flavour but the mango are nice, if you can beat the flying foxes to them. I've got a bloke's race horses in the paddock, they keep the grass down and I get $100 a week and don't have to look after them.

planted seeds inside last week to start. will move them outside next month. will try to have a variety of beans, lettuce, spinach, tomatoes, radishes, carrots, cucumbers, squash, eggplant, zucchini and sometimes will plant okra but that one is still iffy this year. i will off and on grow different herbs also through the year.

Avid lifetime gardener. I've been gardening in this location for 32 years now, before that at previous locations, going back to when I planted my first veggie garden at about age 15, at my parent's house.

I've been waiting for the soil to dry out a bit from our last storm, I plan on getting my peas in the ground tonight or tomorrow after work. That's it until around Mother's Day, when the rest of the veggies go in.

I used to put tomato starts out in late March, early April, and cover them every night. I discovered that plants started in May almost always caught-up with the early starts and bore fruit within a week of each other, so I no longer expend all that energy with nightly covers and worry about late hard freezes.

I always do tomatoes, Japanese cukes, jalapenos, zucchini & summer squash. I also plant a couple of super-hot peppers such as Carolina Reaper, just for fun. I had an asparagus patch here for 25 years but it finally died-out a few years ago, I didn't replant it but probably should.

My current veggie garden is about 700 square feet, it's getting harder to till and work that much ground as I get older so I'm thinking of putting in a peach tree or two and cutting down the vegetable "acreage" by half. I like stuff that comes back every year by itself, such as my blackberry bramble and raspberry patch, pear & apple tree.
