Airline Encounter

My first thought was the same Tyler brought up near the end of the article, the aircraft was in the vicinity of WSMR and its multiple test ranges. I'm not as confident as he is, however, relative to a missile not "going off the reservation." Things like that do happen, I saw it once at Holloman with a QF-102 target drone.

It's interesting the pilot described what he saw as looking like a cruise missile. To me that means it had wings. Most, but not all, cruise missiles have wings. Few UFO reports over the years describe winged craft. When they have, conventional aircraft were usually found to be the cause of the report.

Duke that is scary, would these be armed and wouldn’t they have to land somewhere ? I would think the base would have a record ?

May or may not be armed, and yes a cruise missile would eventually run out of fuel. At that point it would either crash or self detonate. There would certainly be a record/data from any test firing of a cruise missile, but it's doubtful the military would want to advertise they had one go rogue.

To be clear, I'm not saying this was a cruise missile. I was commenting on the aircrew saying what ever they saw looking like a cruise missile, and extrapolating. There was a very similar story of an object matching this pilot's description crashing in Ireland 10-12 years ago. The conventional wisdom was that too was a cruise missile (either US or UK), but nothing was ever admitted.

Understood , thanks for filling me in how that works. It’s always good to look at all possibilities. Maybe it was an alien ship too, ya never know.

Steve Douglass, the "master radio interceptor" mentioned in the article, is something of a legend in the aviation sleuthing world. He runs a blog called "Deep Black Horizon" that's the best unclassified source I've found relative to black aircraft programs.

Interesting the FBI is investigating this incident. I take that to mean it's being treated as a criminal act, a violation of federal law. Wonder if that means there is some indication someone violated established aviation law/regulations? A drone perhaps?

Wow there are a lot of reports at this site. People are not afraid to say what they saw at least.
