What is...

Smallest place I can remember would be an apartment when I was a kid. It was probably averaged sized at the time, but thinking back, it just struck me as small now. But there are tutorials on YouTube on how you can build a small, off the grid cabin that I think I could definitely live it.
Believe it or not, IKEA is now selling tiny homes online. Now that is some assembly required!

I have only lived two places , my parents home and the house I have now. I’ve spent 34 years in an average size house. I once stayed in a very small hotel room on Disney in Florida. I remember thinking I had paid a lot for this bathroom size room.

My wife and I lived in a 24 foot camper for several months while I dug and built a septic, pushed a well by hand, created mounts for solar panels, and we built our own house with hammers and hand saws. The house was 24x16, antique Kitchen Queen cast iron wood cook stove (also used for heating and hot water), full bathroom, DC pump for water pressure, DC outlets instead of AC, decent sized kitchen area, king-sized bed, and we lived in it for over five years. It was the most comfortable house I ever lived in. If someday I'm a widower, I might find secluded land again, and build another house of similar size.

That sounds like our dream house!

I lived in a 12 foot long, little round 1960's caravan for a year with a Rottweiler pup and a bull terrier but it was on 70 acres of wilderness. I woke one morning to banging sounds on the van and there was a Wedge-tailed eagle trying to pick up the quite big pup,it's huge wings were hitting the van. I burst out naked with a shotgun and it took off. Luckily my cousin and his family who lived 100m away had gone to town, lol.

I visited my childhood home a few decades ago when I saw it was for sale. When i was a kid I thought it was huge. I was surprised to see how small it really was! I guess the smaller you are the bigger the world seems
I left my childhood home for about seven years when I was 10. We came back in mid/late '98 and it was left to me in '07. I'm still here to this day. I think it's only about 23-2400 square feet, but it's still home for me. There are just too many memories tied into this place.

I've moved up the coast to a quite big house with all the mod cons and services available. As I'm getting older I thought this would be better. How wrong I was, I miss the simple life, the privacy of the bush. I really just want a small cabin in seclusion and peace. It's so much more spiritual for me, if I die due to being far from services, so be it. I want my life as simple as possible until then.

Awe I’m sorry you’re not happy with the move. Maybe you can do weekend camps out in the bush ?
