AS KIDS AT HALLOWEEN, WE ALWAYS CAREFULLY PLANNED OUT THE PERFECT COSTUME FOR HALLOWEEN. EVEN AS AN ADULT, I'VE HAD OCCASION TO HAVE SOME FUN AND DRESS UP FOR A PARTY OR TWO.

WHAT WERE YOUR FAVORITE HALLOWEEN COSTUMES? STORE BOUGHT OR HOME MADE?

As a child I loved the common boxed costumes. That’s the kind with the thin, one piece, rayon step-in body suite and the molded face mask held on with one thin elastic band.

My favorite part was going shopping and seeing all the costumes stacked up high in flimsy cardboard boxes. Then trying to guess what the costume inside the box looked like based mostly on the art showing at one narrow end of the box.

The boxed costumes were the "way to go" in my day...until I hit about 11. THEN I wanted to create my own.

I can remember standing there trying to make up my mind which costume was going to be the very best each year. Ohhh, the decisions! lol I could be in that aisle for a half hour making the critical choice.

I never recall wearing a store bought/box costume, but I probably did when I was very young. In later years I routinely went as a hobo, complete with burned cork applied to give that authentic, Freddy the Freeloader look. I also remember going as a bank robber once, had one of my Mom's old stockings over my face.

The other thing these posts are reminding me of are the wax treats in the same aisle - wax lips, wax mustaches, wax whistles, wax soda bottles, etc.
