Am I a paranormal repellent?

Long story short I lived with my family in what was a haunted house. I moved in with my grandma in a different state. After I moved my family experienced a string of supernatural activity. Going as far as two positive entities and two negative also with a portal on top of the hill in front of the house. While I lived there I never experienced anything other then the motion lights coming on/off. Maybe a few footsteps here and there. I guess my question is are some people/am I a paranormal repellent? Is this a thing?
Perhaps. But don’t think of it as a bad thing. Maybe you just have friends in night places and ‘they’ know that.

Maybe us sensitive types are supposed to be with mundane partners ;)
sorry WandS, not picking your post specifically, just using it to stay on this side topic, kinda…..this could be a good topic / discussion in itself,. maybe "average" ppl don't repel abilities per se, but ground / distract those with them to the point they are weakened, in a lot of belief systems it is believed that to enhance or reach ones full potential one should never marry or be tied down or distracted by worldly pursuits..... so if ones purpose or desire is to ignore or lesson these abilities it could be good, but if ones desire is to further or strengthen their abilities it could be a hinderance... to get better or focus on something you surround yourself with others to learn from or else you get stagnant.... anyone have any other ideas, opinions, theories, is the old ways just an unneeded discipline or is there something to these beliefs.?

Hence the nunnery and monastic systems.

By the way Paul, no offense to your use of my post - none at all. In fact, I recall taking a test in high school which suggested to you two of the careers/trades most fitting to your aptitudes. Mine came back as a priest and something which I don’t recall...probably, a nun. But I now know that I should have cloistered myself away... ... if I had done that at 18, I’d probably be Gandalf by now.

I think you have something there, Paulm! When I was seeing a counselor a year or so ago she happened to be very familiar with "abilities" for lack of a better word. While seeing her, she encouraged me to hone my gifts, and I found that I was opening more and more to the point that I was getting overwhelmed. Now that I don't see her anymore, I find myself dulling down and not being as receptive as before.

Having enablers - not a bad word here Garnet - can provide one with a few opportunities to practice or hone new skills including esoteric ones. Loss of one of those sources can stunt you. I don’t have a perception on whether this is good or bad - it just seems to be true to me too.

Yes, it's hard to know what to call it other than enabler, but I get what you mean. I think I like being "dialed down" especially with all the stuff that's going on.

In my training, we call those that enhance gifts catalysts. Wands, if you put two or three gifted people in a circle, think of what happens. Energy rises and increases.

Now, for those that keep us level, (and I do happen to agree having a mundane partner tends to keep our feet on the ground so we don't float away), I've heard the term damper. These are truly old school terms as I learned them over 50 years ago from a lovely old witch who had been in the biz for a very long time.

I am finding these terms very informative! I did find myself expanding and discovering more things about myself while seeing this counselor. Now I hardly feel anything at all, even doubt myself sometimes.
