I am not a fan of reruns. I would rather read or listen to the radio. I will watch reruns of Star Trek all series however.

Did you know that a recent study says reruns are good for us? Seriously. Because you already know the outcome, it lets you relax and simply enjoy the story without stress.
This is also the reason the Hallmark Channel is so popular. They follow a story board that gives a happy ending, therefore people can relax while watching the movie knowing that a positive outcome is to come.

I find reruns comforting, as well as watching old movies over and over, for the same reason. After all, why did children always ask to hear the same stories at bedtime?
OTOH, there are some series that I can't watch over again because it's just not the same, even though I enjoyed them very much.

This isn't totally a retro thing but it brings forth SOOOO many memories for me that are very Retro. I watched the Dragon space module splashdown today and remembered the many that I watched in the past. We watched the early space visits from launch to slash down. Back then the splashdown was as thrilling and dangerous as the launch and reentry. They had a limited amount of time for find the capsule, get in the water with it and wrap the flotation to it and then get the astronauts out before the thing sank. They did a great job and we only lost one but until the men were out and pulled up into the helicopter it was a tense period of time.
It had a great influence on me. I wanted to be a part of it so bad and was fast-tracked in school as a part of JFKs effort to move fast into the future. I took algebra in the 7th grade. All of my math and sciences were moved ahead by two years or more. I still have my scrapbook and the Houston Chronicle from the day we landed on the moon.
Sadly JFK was killed and when he died the space program died with him and most of my dreams died too.

When I was a little kid my brother and I used to sleep over at my grandpa's house. Pop liked that show. It was a cinematic play about his friends.
Then he would tell us about how he used to share a box at Washington Park in Chicago with Ralph Capone. Chicago had quite a few race tracks then.
Pop and Ralph fought WW2 there. (Big wink).

Now, Pop '39 did a tour of Balkans for a trip. Who in the right hell ever goes into a war zone for a vacation?
