Sighting divided a Town

Nice they were supported by the locals:rolleyes:.I can't see why they would be bullied ,is it some form of jealousy of their experience?.No wonder probably most alien or paranormal encounters are never reported, luckily we have sites like this.

This is understandable. I have lived near a place full of illiterate rednecks that didn't believe that the world was a sphere. It was round but it was mostly flat. The Apollo moon landing was a government creation that was filmed in Hollywood in a studio. They only allowed the teaching of the theory of evolution if the Biblical creation story was given equal time. Often when you exited the freeway there, you would find a klansman in full robes at the stoplight handing out Klan literature.

To them suggesting that there were aliens was the same as saying that you didn't believe in God because there is NO mention in Genesis of God creating a bunch of ugly Alien creatures. Besides, the stars are just lights in the sky and not suns. I was informed once that the stars are holes in the floor of heaven and that was all that was up there.

Different strokes for different folks but they gave me the creeps personally. This was not a tiny town, back then it was probably about 5000 people. It peaked in the 80s with nearly 12 thousand people then slumps off as the economy was oil-based and oil became worthless in the early 80s. It now has about 10.5 thousand people. It is a little better now. At least they have removed their racest signs at the city limits.

Growing up in Sydney and living in small town areas as an adult I can relate to your account Dan,it's sort of the same here in Oz,hard to believe how narrow minded people can be these days and if you are a "blow in"you are never accepted.I'm sort of glad about this lol.
