Take me out to the Ballgame....

Taiwanese Baseball Team Will Use Dressed-Up Robots Instead of Fans When Season Begins This Weekend

Had a tough time deciding where to post this story, could have been here, "Weird News," or one of the COVID-19 threads. It's a weird news story about COVID-19 impacting professional baseball in the RoC.
OK, that is one very strange approach. I did see a story this morning that there are talks of the MLB doing all their games in AZ in an empty stadium. But adding robot spectators? Ummmm....nope.

MLB resumes in July. Players report July 1 and games start July 23 + 24. There will be a lot of testing and health checks. There was talk of playing all games in the traditional spring training sites to minimize travel but many of those sites need a deep cleaning. Spring Training 2.0 and games will be at each teams park. The schedule is set up to minimize travel among the parks.

Once again the greedy owners and players have put me off baseball, much like happened with previous strikes. After the last strike, I didn't even look at a box score for two years, let alone watch or attend a game.

Thank God my national nightmare ends. The White Sox could benefit from the shortened season. The top talent rookies have not played a full season yet. I think it's going to be a neat season because there's no ebb & flow. We have to come out of the gate real strong. Not like that Nat's season where they lost so many games at the beginning of the year that they really had to dig out of a hole, and then they won the World Series.

These are among the older MLB players with families. It's understandable. It must be tough for them because it might be their last year to play.
