For the holiday weekend! What's on your menu?

We aren't into cook outs and such, so will probably try a new recipe; One that I would like to have is made with ground lamb and phyllo dough.

AHHH, the dreaded phyllo dough! That stuff is hard to work with. I've done it enough, but I still hate working with it!

Yes, it is! Another one is puff pastry. I tried making it from scratch, and it wouldn't puff, lol.

I'm making potato salad, grilling chicken between storms, and opening a can of baked beans. This will be for Sunday. Since the big storms are coming in on Monday. Until then it's just common "rain"....ugh.

No holiday this side of the pond, although may stretch to a frozen roast gammon joint with potatoes and broccoli.

Getting hold of flour is difficult here, but managed to get some strong bread flour delivered from an out of work pizza shop. Makes fantastic pizzas just like....um, they do. :D

I've made filo pasty before. Takes a long time and effort. Much easier to just buy it as a frozen block.
Went to the shop today. First time in 14 days. I can make 8 pints of milk last that long. Reducing my shop visits to the minimum.

I've got a nice chuck roast that I'm using for machaca. With some tortillas, limes, pico de gallo and a little oaxaca cheese makes for some pretty good tacos.

I also have a tri-tip sitting in a marinade at the bottom of my fridge that I'm planning to smoke over mesquite. With that I'll make wild rice and roasted asparagus.
