I live in Scotland, I think I've seen something we call the grey man. I love to go walking in the hills, it helps me clear my head, however just a few days ago when I was on may 2nd day of walking across the mountains, near fort William, I saw something that makes those quiet nights a little more tense. 10 miles south east of fort William, I heard a sound I thought was a plane at first however in hindsight, I think it was the grey man. when I was walking one of the main paths in the valley I was passing through I could see the sides of the hills, despite it being a foggy morning. I could see three boulders, then the middle boulder stood up, It was at least 6 meters tall, It must have seen me because it walked off, and with every stride I could feel every part of my adult skepticism fall apart. I got out of that valley as quick as possible, and when I set up for the night I heard that same sound, Whaling. This is not meant to be a creepypasta or any rubbish like that, I just needed to get this off of my chest.

Welcome to the forum, and thank you for sharing your experience of this. We have other members here from Scotland as well. :)

I'm not sure I've heard of the Grey Man before. Is this a known humonoid in your area or something new you have seen? Either way, it's an interesting encounter and one I'm sure would have me running the other direction.

I used to manage a travel bookstore here in the San Francisco area, and had a client who led hikes and archeological tours in the Cairngorms and around Scotland several times a year. He came in once and asked me to order new Ordnance Survey maps for him so he could change his guide routes. He said, "I'm never going up Ben Nevis again," and when I asked why, all he said was that the Highlands have secrets and he didn't want to know them. I've often wondered what he saw out there, but never asked again. The strangest thing I ever saw up there was a couple of drunk German climbers waving their naked butts in the wind... maybe I need to go back, but I really don't want to run into them again!

Very good article. The fact that the climbers could hear foot steps but not see anything makes me wonder about their ability to hide themselves. Is it cloaking? Mind control? Another dimension that only the sound comes through ? They didn’t mention if they saw prints , I’m guessing they didn’t since that would be important. That creates another issue about their reality.
