Millom, a small town in Cumbria, Lake District, England, is where we went for a week’s holiday in a log cabin a few years ago. It took three trains and three hours to get there. On arrival we reported to the main house, a huge mansion, to get our key to the lodge. According to the booking document our cabin was named ‘Derwent’, but the manager told us that there was no such cabin! Our cabin was to be ‘Luna’. So it appeared we had entered the ‘Twilight Zone’.

The cabin was spacious and comfortable. We relaxed for an or so before heading out to explore the beautiful surroundings. Forests, fields and plenty of sheep! We took our dog with us and he loved the new surroundings and even made friends with one of the local sheep!

Onto the spooky stuff! One evening we ventured out for a stroll. It was a beautiful night, no clouds and a full moon. We found a bench to sit on. I took out my binoculars to have a scout of the sky when out of nowhere came this loud growling roar which my wife said came from somewhere behind her. I got the torch out and shone it in the direction my wife thought the roar came from but we could find nothing untoward.

The next night we were relaxing in the cabin when we heard more strange noises! We stepped outside and checked the surrounding area for anything which may account for the strange noises, again we drew a blank. We were puzzled as to what these noises were when we heard a loud piercing scream, a large animal maybe? Once again we checked the surrounding area but found nothing untoward. My take on the latest scream was that it could have been a cow being abducted or mutilated. UFOs/MILABS are a particular interest of mine.

The third and final incident came after we were returning from a trip to the local stone circle. It was a long walk down from the stone circle - Swinside Stone Circle, where nothing out of the ordinary occurred. However, from out of nowhere a woman appeared, who then passed us by after letting on, and then vanished in front of our very eyes! There was no place for her to go! We had a full view of our surroundings and we’d have spotted which way she went!

We decided to leave our holiday a day early because this place had sucked our energies dry! Our stay in Millom was like being on the set of the BBC dark comedy ‘The League of Gentlemen’.

NB: Where we stayed was a holiday park. It was a few miles outside Millom; the locals were friendly enough, but the holiday park, although in beautiful settings it had an eerie undertone. At night it had the feel of a late 1970’s horror film! No staff stayed overnight, in the case of an emergency you had to consult the site Help Book! Although we never actually saw anything we heard enough strange noises and picked up different energy signatures that we knew there was something of high strangeness going on! My thoughts lead me to conclude that UFOs/MILABS are involved.

Thanks Debi. To really appreciate the weirdness of the place you had to be there. I had an auntie who owned property in the countryside so I am aware of some of the sounds associated with farm animals, but these screams/growls did not, in my humble opinion belong to any domesticated animal. In the case of the growl we heard on the first night, that was not a dog! The scream I think belonged to a large animal, maybe a cow? Both my wife and I are paranormal investigators and don't scare easily!

What are MILABS?

MILABS are alleged alien abductions in which uniformed military are visibly involved.

Why such persons would be wearing a military uniform during the commission of a crime might be a good question to ask, however.

There is so much history in England that it seems there couldn't be a square meter anywhere that hasn't had blood spilled on it. The memories live on in the land and in the minds and hearts of the people there. I would love to go there and see if it would speak to me. Thanks for sharing with us and welcome to the group.

I was going to ask the same question.

Welcome Scally. Do you think it could have been a Big Foot?

Possibly Lynne. I have a friend who lives in Cumbria and her and her grandson have heard strange noises, and photographed what may have been a foot imprint of a Big Foot.

One of my early abduction experiences involved a group of Sasquatch! I'll post it the UFO forum.

The military involved with MILABS operate under different 'guidelines'. Black Ops are a law unto themselves.

Some decent information regarding MILABS:-

Don't forget about Dogman, it is coming up fast in popularity to Sasquatch, which I have had several encounters with. Although one thing you need to know is that a wounded cow can make the most awful sounds you ever heard. You heard growling so that was not a cow.
