For the last few weeks, I have been having a rather odd experience. There will be a sudden flash of white light as if someone in an adjoining room had taken a picture with a flash on their camera. This will happen when I am alone or at night when I am in bed reading and know exactly where my wife is because she is sleeping there beside me. Thre is no sound associated with it and if I go to look there is nothing to see. No light that was on has gone out and none that were off have turned on. I am 100 yards back off of the road in front of my home and live on 3 acres that are fenced with an electric gate in the front so I know at night it isn't a car turning around in my driveway. Since it has also happened in the day that wouldn't apply anyway.

I don't think for sure that this is a paranormal thing but then I'm not sure what is causing it. Could it be some sort of ocular disturbance like floaters? I don't know but am wide open for suggestions.

It could be something to do with your retina,I get this sometimes in the bottom corner of my eye,it seemed to come on after I had a splinter removed from that eye but might have been a coincidence.

Dan, white flashes need to be checked out asap. They can be a sign of impending retinal detachment. I'm very familiar with this as my great-nephew I have raised has a hole in his retina (due to abuse he came from) and it's one of the signs we watch for as an emergency "signal" to get him into the eye doc asap. It of course could be other things, but as a safety issue, I would go in and check it out right away just to rule it out.

Dan I have seen something similar. When it happened to me, my husband saw it too. I have had this happen twice in 4 months. Both times were after sundown but not late, maybe 8 Pm. We were sitting watching tv in the living room with the curtains drawn. The light flash happened in the back of the room. It was a bright star shaped flash that stretched flat longways on the way out. It was a brilliant flash of light that made no sound. We have no explanation for it. I mentioned the occurrence here somewhere.

Crux in my case two people saw it, myself and my husband. If it was an optical problem my husband wouldn’t have saw it too.
