Hello,

I joined to post about some experiences my husband, John, has recently told me about. I should note that while I am open (but skeptical) to the possibility of spirits, entities, demons, and what have you, my husband is completely closed off to the idea--he figures that there are logical explantations for all of the things that have happened to him. And, perhaps there are. I would even say it's probable. But I thought that I might reach out to a paranormal forum to see if anyone else has had something similar happen to them.

There are two main things that happened to my husband, both when he was very young.

The first is that he would walk into a room and immediately see figures out of his close peripheral. He says that the figures weren't shadow figures, but rather real, detailed people. He says that sometimes they would look like his family members and other times they would just be strangers to him. He also says that he doesn't remember any particular details about these "strangers" because every time he would see them out of his peripheral, he would look at them straight on immediately afterwards (as instinct does) and they would vanish before he could actually see them.

An old friend of his that's no longer in the picture but claimed to be spiritually sensitive told him that her theory was that he couldn't look at them straight on because, if he did, they would "get" him. I'm not sure I buy that theory--I'm not even sure that this isn't just a case of a young child's active imagination--but it seems quite strange to me indeed.

The second thing happened indirectly to my husband and directly to my mother-in-law, Angela. Apparently, when John was very young--around the time he was also seeing these figures--he says that his mother was getting gas and told him, "Don't think I didn't see you messing around with me last night." (Of course, all of these quotes may not be direct quotes, this is just how I'm remembering my husband tell me this story.)

John claimed that he didn't know what Angela was talking about. Angela said, "I saw you sneaking up behind me in the living room last night. I saw you in the reflection of the TV screen, hiding behind the couch. You shouldn't have even been up so late."

John swore to his mother that he wasn't even in the living room last night, that he was asleep in his bed. Apparently, it took him assuring her many times over that he really wasn't there.

He said that when he and his mother got back to their house, and she saw just how close "my husband" was to her in respect to the TV-screen reflection, she burst into tears. He said that he tried to lie to her and tell her that it really was him after that to make her feel better, but he doesn't think that she believes him.

I believe it's also worth noting that, after my husband told me this story, I decided to ask my brother-in-law (Paul) and my sister-in-law (Christine) if they'd experienced anything. Christine told me that she'd never really had anything happen directly to her, but she'd hear strange noises occasionally, sometimes like whispers. Paul said that he without a doubt believes that a small boy died either in the house or around the house, because he's seen him in their laundry room before--the same description as Angela gave John when she was telling him about the boy in the TV screen. Apparently, this child-figure bears a passing resemblance to my husband as a kid.

Christine, Paul, and Angela still live in the same house today. I've stayed over for weekends many times and can't remember anything unusual happening while I was there.

If any of you have any sort of feedback on my husband's experiences, I'd greatly appreciate it!

Hello there Eden.
Your account is very well written!
I have had strange stuff happen to me at my brothers house many times but absolutely none anywhere else in a long time. He admits he hears things downstairs often while he sleeps at night.
Why I tell you this is that the things I have heard mimic him. For instance he has a way of coming in the front door very fast with a bang crash then walk to the middle room and throw his big bunch of keys down.
i have been sitting upatairs on the computer when he comes in. after i finished typing i go downstairs to say something to him only noone is there. he comes in and out a few times a day but this has happened a few times in fifteen years.
leaving me scared one day he was walking in and out to the car and i was in the living room seeing him in the mirror and at one point he walked in and we looked at each other in the mirror as he passed. then five seconds later he walked past the window and in the door. like twice he came in.
my reason for saying this i think some entity mimics your loved ones.
i once at his house was in bed and the cat walked in the bedroom jumped on the bed. i went to grab a glass of water and saw the cat was asleep on his lap downstairs all evening.
this is just some of it.
some religions dont beleive in ghosts but that these are demons who take on the person to frighten.
i say this to you as your story seems like a doppleganger instance too. i see instances of this in many accounts. muslims do not believe in dead people ghosts but in yins which are demons sent to fool and confuse.
i certainly am not a muslim but other faiths have similar ideas.
dopplegangers who take on the looks and actions of loved ones.

Bunter,

Thank you for the compliment and for the response!

I wondered about the possibility of some sort of mimic spirit as well, but one detail that I left out of the original post prevents me from being fully on board with it--Paul says that, although the boy was the same height, stature, and had the same dark hair as my husband as a child, he had light eyes (rather than brown) and a different mouth.

I don't know if it helps you to hear this, but I have had incidents when I was expecting my husband home, and while I am in the back of the house, I have clearly heard him come in, shut the door and walk across the room. I would come out to greet him, only to find that he hadn't arrived. Minutes later, he would come home.

That sounds more like a time phenomenon than anything else to me!

Welcome to the forum Eden. Thanks for sharing your husbands story. It sounds like maybe they were living in a haunted house. Sometimes we never know the answers to these things. If you look around this forum you may find some pieces to the puzzle.
