Feds warn on Area 51

it will be "burning man" 2.0.... there was a hippy gathering here in the state forests last summer.... ppl don't need the infrastructure to gather and party...and we also have a rather large gypsi population that comes through regularly.... these ppl are fairly self sustaining and make a way when needed or wanted..... I may one day join them...lol
Burning man has a few vendors and resources set up there. This place has zip. Unless the "organizers" pull a fast set-up and get resources in place. Now I have to wonder what happened to Knapp's announcement they were going to make it a UFO symposium with speakers and guests?

Not sure a state forest in GA is apples to apples comparison to Rachel. The closest gas station or food store to Rachel is fifty miles, the closest hospital is eighty miles. Cell coverage in the area is spotty at best. Temperatures will be in the mid/high 90s with no natural shade. People who think they are just going to gather and party will find themselves in a desolate, desert environment with no safety net of public services.

I agree, but these ppl usually don't even have cell phones....lol .. not a slave to technology, minimalist in every way..and the ones that do aren't really concerned with spotty coverage.... early days of burning man is a good example, or slab city California, cool place, and another good example... (look up slab city)..I once went and spent a few months out in the Mojave just to see what it was like... if ppl want to party they will jump at any chance, esp. with something like this. if ppl keep building it up and in the spotlight.

Nevada leaders stress safety ahead of ‘Storm Area 51’ events

State leaders are monitoring the planned “Storm Area 51” events this month to ensure that those in the area are safe.

Gov. Steve Sisolak said he’s been in contact with state and local agencies, including the Nevada National Guard, regarding the Sept. 20-22 events planned for Lincoln and Nye counties.

“Our team as been in constant communication with the National Guard; we’ve talked to them a few times,” Sisolak said. “Unfortunately it’s being promoted like it’s some kind of big party out there. They’re supposedly coming from all over the country and all over the world to go there, and we don’t want to put anybody in danger.”

The ordering of a guard presence would be a state decision, according to Nye County emergency manager Scott Lewis.

“We’re not at that point yet, because we have to understand what the scope is and what our actual risk is,” he said. “That’s an ongoing process. Those types of resources are in our back pocket and through a formalized process we would request such.”

Despite the planned Peacestock 51 festival being denied a permit by Nye County officials, the area is still bracing for a population surge in the thousands, because the original meet-up point mentioned in the viral Facebook post that started the whole “Storm Area 51” phenomenon called to meet at the Area 51 Alien Travel Center in Amargosa Valley.

A pair of events are planned for Lincoln County: Alienstock at the Little A’Le’Inn in Rachel and Storm Area 51 Basecamp at the Alien Research Center in Hiko.
