I had the first experience a little over 9 years ago, then two more just last year. I was dating my now husband, I'll call him Jim, and he invited me to walk on a nature trail in Micanopy, Florida. He told me that horses roamed there, and since I have always been rather awed and a little frightened of horses, I was a little nervous. We had been walking for awhile, and at one point, my husband pointed out a group of horses in the distance, and I admired them from afar. Later, we were walking down another trail and saw that there was a horse standing there, surrounded by people. These horses weren't wild; and were apparently used to people. Anyway, I felt nervous as we approached the horse and wanted to pass by quickly.
As we passed, I saw that even though people were offering bits of food to the horse, it quickly swung it's head up and then it started following us! I was very nervous ,and wanted to walk faster, but Jim said that the horse was curious about me for some reason, and all the way down that trail it followed us. Jim urged me to stop and pet it, but I was too frightened. We went up another trail, and two more horses started to follow us. I did stop and allow the horse to approach, but I was really nervous. After that we went home.
Last year, we went to a zoo and went around looking at all the animals. We entered an enclosed exhibit with endangered animals; they were all behind glass windows. Each one that we passed, the animals came out and stared at me. The other visitors had been leaving, disappointed that some of the animals wouldn't come into view. I would really be interested in hearing your opinions about what might have been happening in these two instances?
