I’am a huge lover of the arcana and the tarot cards. Honestly, tarot cards are probably one of my favorite ways of reading a person and their life situation, or even what’s going on behind my own back, or understanding what a spiritual guide wants to say.

At the start, I was told to never do tarot readings after the dusk because I was terribly inexperienced with protecting my auric field and plus, I was easy to target by anything negative at that time because of my own pessimistic nature. I was told by the one who’s teaching me that tarot cards or any cards that are used for future telling, and the way they are put, can call in certain spirits depending on your emotional state.

Being ignorant and not ready, I would use my cards for pessimistic reasons, VERY heavy energy. I would often do tarot on the internet but I wanted to learn in real life as well. So, what did I do? I chose the most possible wrong way of practicing my cards. Always on nights, with negative energy, and questions that were also fueled by negativity. I don’t think doing cards on night was the difference, it was my own energy that brought the next thing to me. I wouldn’t put my cards back as a whole pile and I would just let them laying there after my readings, even throughout the whole night. And this would draw in any spirit because of this way of ‘calling in certain spirits depending on your emotions’ during the readings.

For days, a dark being on the corner of my room had made itself comfortable there and would enjoy my pessimism. I couldn’t sense it, because I was used to the same energy it was living on, negativity. And it would just feed upon my energy. I know this thing came in the time I was learning on how to read tarot cards, because immediately after a few days I had started my card readings, my friend came one day and told me my room smelled like it had caught fire, we checked everything that could be related to electrical issues, but everything was fine. The fire didn’t smell normal anyway, it smelled like a fire that had flesh burning in it. We literally prayed and threw holy water around the room for this to go away.

Once we spread the holy water around the corners of the room, the smell became worse. But after a while of saying prayers, a flowery smell came in, and I smelled it too this time. If it wasn’t for her, I would have never felt this thing being there. For the rest of the week I would see light balls around the house. And that’s how I learned to never play with divination tools or anything related on how to do even helpful magic until I would be ready. I’m still not ready for much, but I became very good with tarot.

I always call on my guardians before doing a Tarot reading, and have never had any trouble from negative entities. As you say, the Tarot cards can be wonderful divination tools, but one must always set up protection before using them! I am glad that you are becoming good at using the cards!

That is always a useful reminder and something that can't ever be emphasized enough. Such tools are indeed a double-edged sword. With the power comes a tremendous amount of responsibility. And one must be prepared to shoulder both. That is why in the few times that I have worked with the Tarot, I used it strictly to comment on my current state of affairs. I am wary of using it for divination because I am simply ignorant of what I would need to do in order to properly prepare. What little I do know seems to indicate that the work and effort is significant.

Good points. I would add that using it for fortune telling or divination could be false or misleading because you don’t know who or what you’re talking to. I know there are some here that are comfortable using them and that’s all good. I for one do not touch anything that has an open door call for information. I am content to let life play out as it comes. I think we can effect the future and having a prediction can interfere with it. I figure if I’m to get a warning about something it will be when I need it. Just my take on it.

I stay away from anything that encourages paranormal interaction,I see enough of it anyway without tools of the trade. One day not long ago I went to see my mother and walked in on her innocently reading tarot cards(she has no insight or belief in the paranormal).Well when I was explaining to her not to do this something opened her front door and walked down the hall.We both got a sickening, bad feeling,so I sent whatever it was away and promptly burnt the cards.

Good advice imo Lynne.

First and Last, Intent is everything.

Now, I have never heard any of this about Tarot Cards. The Tarot is suppose to work through interpretation of the Drawings. Symbology. I have never, ever, heard that you can draw demons with them. Tarot is divination. Demon drawing is incantation. Or INTENT.

If you pick up a stick and you have a notion to empower that stick with Negative Intent - YOU are drawing what you are Calling - not the stick. In any other setting the stick is just a stick. To me it sounds like YOU drew what you were Calling by considering the Tarot as a Tool and purposely investing them with negative energy (INTENT). Then instead of saying WOW - this is REAL, I won't do that ever again... you said - It was the Cards. Just saying.

What I am saying here is, while I don't think the Tarot are a valuable skill to learn if you are not practicing divination and I don't think they are a toy because that is not what they are made for... but I don't think they draw demons. I think individuals are self-responsible for that... in a case like this. Which is why many would caution against having them. The truth is that anyone who gets into this stuff is probably vulnerable or more open to other stuff. Tarot is like the Gateway Drug so to speak.

Unlike the Quija - which is designed for the exact intent of Calling on Spirits. And even with the Quija -- there is self-responsibility.

This was great Darcey. You helped me put this in perspective perfectly. We should save this to an auto response to this type of question!!!! Wow! Well stated!!!
