I own a Kindle, and I had always sworn I would not use it for reading a book...game use like Angry Birds only! A book is a book, after all, said I! Until I wanted a book quickly, and that one led to another e-book, and another, and so on. Pretty soon my library was digital!

So, which do you use most? Do you still buy the book in physical form or have you ended up in the digital book aisle? Do you miss the feel and scent of the real deal?

I converted all my magazine and newspaper subscriptions to electronic, but have never bought or read an e-book. I don't buy books anymore, however. I've become a disciple of the interlibrary loan, and have gotten books loaned from as far away as Australia. In the rare instance where I find a book I want to own after reading a library copy, I buy it used from bookfinder.com.

I have tried doing e-books, but I just can't do it. I spend most of my day behind screens. When I settle down to read I can't stare at another screen, it has to be a physical book. After a while the screen makes my eyes burn, and I spend at least 2 hours reading every night and I don't think I could stare at a screen for that long before I sleep. I buy books so often that the employees at the Barnes and Noble by my house know me by name. And when I am doing my book reviews I like to be able to put post-it notes on pages with my notes, it's much easier. I also have a love hate relationship with any and all technology so the less I have to use it the happier I am. And there is just something about the feel of having the book in your hand, and the smell of books is just too nostalgic to give up.

I've never read an e-book... I have tons of books, everything from tom sawyer, the yearling, the outsiders and many, many more classics. I also have hundreds of reference books, a whole wall full and many more boxed up, there's just something about going to the shelf and grabbing a hard copy to look up what you're searching for, esp in old copies, the artwork, the pages, the smell....a feeling an e-book just can't bring about.
But even new fiction authors i follow I still buy hard copies. Really can't see changing to electronics anytime soon.

I read most stuff electronic these days. In the last five years all my books have been electronic. What surprises me is that electronic books are just as expensive as paper. I guess actually printing a book is the least costly part of the process.

I dunno, you can self publish for pennies.... I think its just more profit for the publishers.
Yep I'm currently without a pic...lol... Was playing with a new avatar and guess it didn't take. Now I'm away from my computer and can't fix it for a while.

I, too, have a love-hate relationship with technology. I will always love books; the smell of the pages and the print, and the way the bindings look, lined up in my little library-office. I have happy memories of spending long hours in the library or book store, and falling asleep with a favored book cradled next to my pillow. I have yet to read an e-book!

I too love spending hours in book stores, especially long established used book stores. When I travelled for work, I always made a point to find a local used book shop. The one place I regretted not getting to visit was the village of Hay-on- Wye in Wales, a small town of used bookstores.
