Hi, New here, not new however to knowing that's there more to all this then what I can interpret with my senses..

I work in inside sales, 31 years at this job.
Often I know in advance who will be calling me shortly, usually within the course of a day.
it's not like I think of someone & they call in a week or a few days, It's always pretty quick..

I'll be driving or whatever & a customer I hadn't heard from in awhile pops into my head, Sure enough I do hear from them soon after. It happens fairly often & I find myself thinking, "It's happened again!"l

In my office sometimes I know who is calling when the phone rings, This is a busy office with several salespeople. When I tell folks who is behind the ring they look at me like I have two heads..

This just happened again & it compelled me to find a site where others may know about this?..

I think it has to do with the length of time you have been doing your job. You probably do have some abilities but is almost impossible to consciously change with your mind. It would be like telling your heart to beat or to tell your cells to divide. You don't tell your blood to flow or for your food to digest, it occurs naturally through processes that have been building for millennia.

Perhaps your experiences are just part of processes, inner workings of the universe that you just catch a glimpse/smell of, similar to a 2d universe experiencing a 3d object you can only see your perspective and not the actual object. A sphere would only appear as a circle to a person in a 2 dimensional universe.

Just hypothetical ramblings lol. I have similar stuff happen occasionally with my wife but that is much more to be expected with your loved ones.

Yes, I'm convinced it's all totally a glimpse, as humans we aren't wired to know "everything" as if we did nothing would get accomplished..
Sometimes things do however sneak thru & hopefully we are perceptive enough to notice them..

Whatever is behind it all does seem to try and get our attention sometimes?..

It most certainly does, which then brings into question everything we are talking about. Intelligence vs natural process, or is that a false dichotomy, perhaps it could be both intelligent and natural, like a nature spirit/god. Very interesting.

To me the spirit is all about "guidance".. You do however need to be smart enough to be aware there are "out there" & be ready to receive whatever message is being sent..Awareness is the key. That said....

OK..
What are the odds that A) You are watching a TV Show where the characters are chasing an escaped Praying Mantis around a living room & then immediately afterward B) You walk down the stairs with your dog that has signaled you to go out & upon opening your door a Praying Mantis jumps onto YOUR stairs & you begin a frantic exercise to corral in your dog while safely evacuating the mantis ?..
That happened last fall...Experiences like that mean everything or nothing, I can't decide which sometimes?..

hi mfs176, welcome to the forum..."knowing" when someone is about to call and such feelings can be possible.....there is a description of just that on the second page of this thread. read it and see if that kinda explains it for you, or if that is something like you are describing....Call or Text?

Would strongly encourage you to look into animal spirit guides, as your first two sentences is exactly what you would be saying if you are ready to enter that world. Gonna drop some general info about insect spirit guides, which is what we are discussing, spirit guides, then some more specific information about the mantis.

Insect Spirit Animal
As with other Animal Spirits, the exact meaning of an Insect depends heavily on the exact type of creature it is, and also how this symbol appears in your life.

For example if a specific is constantly buzzing in your ear, particularly a bee, it’s bringing you a message from the Ancestors or the Divine.

Butterfly appearing in your life represents a transformation on the horizon often of a personal nature, dragonfly heralds luck and sweet fire fly lights up the darkness of our life.

The best way to discover for certain what your Spirit Animal is trying to say is by meditating on that image and writing down anything that comes to mind.

Insect Totems
If you were born with an Insect as your Totem Animal, you are probably on the move a lot. Sitting still is not your “thing”. You want to fly off and enjoy life’s nectar, enriching people along the way.

Insect Totems like being in Nature often, and may even seek out careers like landscaping or botany to invest that passion accordingly.

Insect Power Animals
There are tens of thousands of species of Insects and, each, important to the bio-diversity on Earth. If your calling in life is to help Mother Gaia, call on the energy of the Insect world when you want spiritual guidance from the animal kingdom.

The majority of the world’s insect population is physically, very tiny. Yet, they all serve such large functions in our eco-system. When you want to do big things but are feeling too small to make a difference, invoke Insect as your Power Animal. They all can help you see that little things come in big packages!

Insects in Celtic Symbolism
Because the Celts so revered the animal kingdom, Insect Symbolism and Meaning plays heavily in their myths and cultural beliefs. It’s important to remember that the Celtic people, just as the Native Americans, studied all animals, insects, reptiles, etc. to learn about survival as well as to glean spiritual connection and understanding.

As in most cultures, Bees, Butterflies, & Spiders are among the most meaningful Insects to the Celts. In especially, Bees were thought to bring good luck and Butterflies the embodiment of loved ones who had crossed to the other side.

Native American Symbols: Insects
Insects play a wide variety of different roles in the mythology of Native American tribes.

Generally speaking, Native American traditions tend to have very negative perceptions of swarming insects, biting insects, and (in agricultural societies) crop-destroying insects, associating them with disease, evil witchcraft, and bad luck.

On the other hand, like other small animals, insects often appear in legends to symbolize meekness and humility, two positive traits valued by most Native American cultures.

Praying Mantis
Praying Mantis Meaning in the Realm of Animal Symbolism
The mantis comes to us when we need peace, quiet and calm in our lives.

Usually the mantis makes an appearance when we’ve flooded our lives with so much business, activity, or chaos that we can no longer hear the still small voice within us because of the external din we’ve created.

After observing this creature for any length of time you can see why the symbolism of the praying mantis deals with stillness and patience. The mantis takes her time, and lives her life at her own silent pace.

A Quick-List of Symbolic Praying Mantis Meanings
  • Calm
  • Balance
  • Patience
  • Intuition
  • Stillness
  • Awareness
  • Creativity
  • Mindfulness
These traits have lead the mantis to be a symbol of meditation and contemplation. In fact, in China, the mantis has long been honored for her mindful movements.

The mantis never makes a move unless she is 100% positive it is the right thing for her to do. This is a message to us to contemplate and be sure our minds and souls all agree together about the choices we are making in our lives.

Overwhelmingly in most cultures the mantis is a symbol of stillness. As such, she is an ambassador from the animal kingdom giving testimony to the benefits of meditation, and calming our minds.

An appearance from the mantis is a message to be still, go within, meditate, get quite and reach a place of calm. It may also a sign for you to be more mindful of the choices you are making and confirm that these choices are congruent.

The mantis presents a wealth of duality, and I get jazzed about that. If you research the mantis you will find she has the capacity for great tranquility and also great treachery. I’m pretty sure that is true of all of us. That is why the praying mantis is a great symbolic mentor. This unsuspecting insect shows us we are capable of being the epitome of peace but also pulling out big power when it is called for.

I just want to accentuate the aspect of the praying mantis, and her (the female) ability to devour her mate. Maybe I’m a big sicko to be fascinated by this angle, but if you’ve ever witnessed the mantis eating up her male partner, it really is a little breathtaking.

Okay, maybe I am demented for being totally enchanted by this act. But still…if you consider the overwhelming evidence that backs the mantis up as being a docile, graceful, peaceful creature…and yet recognize her propensity for deep destruction – doesn’t that intrigue you? Well, it does me. I love the idea of duality. I love that the mantis symbolism includes both serenity and severity.

“If the only prayer you ever say in your entire life is thank you, it will be enough.”
~ Meister Eckhart
To continue with the interesting symbolism of mamma mantis’ tendency to kill her partners…she doesn’t always eat her mate. It’s really only when she feels her offspring are in threat. It may also happen if she’s incredibly hungry (I know the feeling, lol). But the fact remains it happens. And it happens in a most spectacular way. She yanks the head off her dandy man. Yep. Decapitation. Oy. This is due to the disposal of threatening teeth. Praying matis have pretty intense choppers. By chomping the head of her mate, she eliminates threat. You know what…I think that’s really symbolic.

So what’s my point to all this? It is a message. It is a lesson that we all should learn. Mantis reminds us we are capable of extreme peace as well as inducing extreme pain upon others. Maybe that doesn’t set well with some of you, but in my world – that deals with every color under the heavens, I dig the idea of potential. Sometimes our potential is all about grace. Sometimes our potential can be terrible and wickedly brutal. It happens. It is human nature, and apparently is is also the nature of a praying mantis. So whether as a mode of self protection, or protecting what we have born into this world – let the mantis make it very clear – we are capable of extraordinary actions to guard what we hold dear.

I hope you have enjoyed these thoughts on praying mantis meaning. Be sure to check out my other articles listed on this page about animal symbolism. As always, thanks for reading!

May all your praying mantis encounters be peaceful and revealing.

Spirit guides usually use synchronicity and multiple affirmations that will be obvious to any paying attention it is not serendipitous. Which I would take the mantis on tv and then YOUR DOG CALLING YOU TO THE MANTIS, pretty humorous. Funny as well one of the key words to Praying Mantis was listening, and intuition as well.

I continuously have spiders, bees and moths, all around me. The spider has been following me since I called on it in extreme need, as well I call on all spirit animals who are willing to give me guidance. I frequently give thanks to bees as they as so helpful to the ecosystem, but more and more I will have bees come and land and stare at me, or land on my car and stay on my car, or they will try to fly into window even if it is up or just cracked. For weeks I have been having bees come to me.

"Are you shouldering heavy burdens? Do you need help pollinating new ideas and projects? Is your soul seeking a community to which you can belong? Bee Spirit as a Spirit, Totem, and Power Animal can help! Bee teaches you how your higher-self is aiding you in a flight pattern that will land you smack dab in the sweetest of spots! Delve deeply in Bee symbolism and meaning to find out how this animal spirit guide can encourage, stir, and animate you."

"If you feel that you’re facing impossible odds, you could not have a better Spirit Animal wing its way into your life. Bee is the master of miracles. No matter what you face, Bee will help you find that elusive solution.

For some reason the Praying Mantis scares the living daylights out of me. I cannot even look at a picture of one without feeling terrified. Wonder what that means. H'm.
