I've been thinking about this lately, and my dad and i talked about it recently. When I was a child from the ages of 3-5 I was visited every night by these creatures that had heads that resembled bats but human bodies. Their eyes glowed red, they had razor sharp teeth, and whenever i saw them i would feel extreme panic and dread. Our house is definitely haunted, i used to tell my mom when i was young that i was playing with a little girl named Rosie. I forgot about Rosie as i grew up, but my sister who is 8 years younger than me used to say she was playing with Rosie. My parents were dumbfounded and were like that's the name of the girl Meg used to play with at that age. When i was about 5 years old my dad said one night i came downstairs and was not myself. I was screaming and crying saying i can't stay here, i have to go, please let me leave. My parents didn't know how to respond, my mother was mad (i remember this whole experience, but not why i wanted to leave.) so my dad was like okay, you want to leave we'll leave...so he took me on a car ride, i told him the directions to go, he just listened and drove. Our town has a suspension bridge (its beautiful) and i was like let me out of the car i must go now, he wouldn't let me go. But there was a wool and sash mill there at the bridge which the people who used to own and live in our house (they built it), their father founded that mill. I didn't know this until last year, plus as a kid, my parents never exposed me to anything scary and especially not the history of our house. So he brought me home and that was the end of that. 6 months later i got a wicked fever, ended up in the ER because of it, the doctor told my parents he wasn't sure if i was gonna make it. But i've heard of this happening to children where they encounter an entity and get sick after. What do you guys think? I would just like some clarity on this...

thanks
-Meg

It's been known to happen, Meg, as part of the aftermath of a haunting that children fall ill. Sometimes adults do as well. We aren't sure of the exact cause, but it's usually attributed to a negative entity in contact with the person. Sounds to me as if the home you were in had quite a bit of activity in it if you were seeing these things. Sometimes spirits or entities, including demonics, will appear as a child to build trust in someone. This may be what happened to you.

I agree with Debi that people, old and young can become ill after being exposed to negitive energy.
What an awful experience you had, so sorry you had to go through this. In my opinion I think you would be safe to assume that you did in fact have an attachment, it was with you for an extended period of time and at one point probably possesed you or at the very least was influencing you.
I am happy that this is not the current situation and you are doing well.

Welcome to the forum Megan.

I agree with the above statements. I wish parents would listen to their children and take action to protect them. It’s awful that your young childhood was scared because of that haunting. I hope your life now is free of that kind of thing and that your living well.

I’ll weigh in based on my knowledge of Islamic exorcism...Based on what you’ve described it does sound consistent with cases of possession. You might be aware of what is happening (i.e. what you’re saying or doing) but you couldn’t explain it. I’ve known of cases where the person is aware of what happened as well as those where they’re not. In certain cases that’s how the entities’ presence was detected. Possession has also been known to be heavy on the one who has been possessed and has also been observed to be connected to heat. The we explain it is that they are made of fire.

I have performed 6 exorcisms and believe me, possession is not something to joke about.

To have performed six exorcisms by age 20 is extraordinary. Understanding you have obligations to protect the privacy of those you exorcised, could you give us some details, please? I'd also be curious to know where you received your training. Do you represent a particular faith or would you consider yourself a nondenominational, or even secular, exocist?

Nice questions as I can bet other members would also like to know the answers.

There are so many different ways forms, faith-based, cultural based, etc.. Also these types of things take place in so many countries, some of them never even known of by the population majority encompassing the World.
Different cultures, all different countries, and yes all different ages are trained and maybe even brought up in a home where it was something that their parents were trained in.

Very interested in hearing your answers. welcome.

I don't know if you remember but did only you see Rosie after being visited by the bat looking entities with the red eyes?

Agreed, though the seriousness of it would depend on the level/extent of the possession (and I suppose here we might even differ on what we qualify as possession) and I suspect that the possessions you've seen were to a greater extent than most of the ones i've come across. In a nutshell, I would call it a possession if there is a certain level of influence/attachment or presence of an entity (jinn as I call them) in a person. They will manifest in a number of different ways apart from the common understanding of possession, in which they assume near-complete control of the possessed as you would see in movies about it for instance. Given what I would qualify as a possession, I'd say that the people who are possessed (to lesser extents) can otherwise lead a normal life. Of course for those with a greater extent of possession, it is a different story.

I've performed/attempted to perform a number of exorcisms myself and watched even more. Sometimes I have found some of the interactions with them to even get somewhat comedic. Particularly with the lesser extents of possession that I've found in the cases of many people whose cases I've looked into, I had been taking possessions as a fairly casual thing and not such a huge deal as they could otherwise be fairly easily manageable.
