I'll have the ranch....

Jeezers and I'm trying to cut back on the salt because of my weight and BP. Thanks for the link Debi - I guess I'm not the only person in the world who finds their own salads to be blah.

But Duke's addition of jalapenos is worth considerations. I L-O-V-E jalapenos and fresh more than the pickled ones. When I order from a Mexican restaurant I always tell them to add double the jalapenos on top. To me, jalapenos tend to add as much a floral note as they do a heat.

Agree with you, I prefer fresh jalapenos over pickled. There was a local Mexican chain here that routinely served the fresh ones, sadly it folded.

You can grow those easily, guys, in a very small space. The yield is pretty good per plant. (And then again the produce section may be your option...lol)

My favorite salad consists of Spring Mix ( a salad blend of rather bitter tasting leaves, sold in supermarkets) and on that, I put some feta cheese, walnuts, and dried cranberries. the dressing is made of lemon juice, a little garlic, and honey. Yum! And oh yes, olive oil goes in this too.

My salads are pretty boring. I don't like to have too much stuff on them.
Simply lettuce (typically romaine) and cherry tomatoes with crutons and/or alphalpha sprouts. Add a bit of black pepper and either italian or Bleu cheese dressing.

Mrs Duke puts out both tomatoes and peppers every year, she gets a respectable yield out of what amounts to four glorified window boxes. Unfortunately, hot peppers are not her thing, what she grows is quite benign, along the lines of banana peppers.

It sounds like Duke needs his own windowbox. ;)

I enjoy salads as a main course. I will add eggs and cheese when doing a main course salad. I also adore a good Greek Salad with Feta. Yum! My "normal" fare is onion, cucumber, tomatoe, and ranch. I sometimes will just make that into a salad wrap using a tortilla. Filling and I still get the veggies! Often a quick lunch here.

Oh yeaaaaassss. I agree. A really good Greek salad is like a Greek Godsend :p

Fairly standard lettuce, tomato, green peppers (not the hot ones I'm not sure what you would call them in the US), olives, beetroot, red onion.

I make my own dressing, olive oil, lemon juice, crushed garlic.
