Developing your skills

I have decades of experience lucid dreaming discipline. In order to do it, you need tons of energy. You can wake up exhausted from a full nights sleep.

But it has certain advantages. Mainly in learning about the unseen & unknown. Sometimes if you are trying hard to find solutions to life’s advanced trials, it is indespensible. I guess it’s my form of meditation.

I worked so long at it that I produced a double that could be seen & heard. I guess I got carried away. When that happens I have to discipline myself not to lapse into dreaming state while I’m awake. It happens. God only knows if I’ve been seen distantly while asleep & really projecting full force?

Mrs. C, a few parts of your post ring true with me specifically related to my self hypnosis efforts.

I was told during my hypnosis training that "hypnoidal sleep" - the meditative and aware state of hypnosis - is completely unlike slumber sleep. I was also told more importantly too that if I elected to do hypnoidal focused affirmations or meditations before going to bed because of convenience (place, time, distractions, etc.), then I have to be certain to arouse myself out of the hynpoidal state before actually falling asleep. You must have a unique transition between the two states.

Well, I didn't listen; and, for the first several days, I awoke in the morning feeling totally drained. Seems that by moving from hypnoidal sleep into slumber sleep without first coming out of a hynpotized state your conscious mind is left "awake" while your body sleeps. Hence your brain never experiences the regenerative rest that comes with actual slumber sleep. I was a total wreck for that first week. I did change my meditative patterns after that so as to do my hypnotic exercises in the morning after waking up.

Interesting subpoint though is that I didn't used to have lucid dreams before age 21. It seems that my lucid dreaming started sometime between ages 21 and 25 which just happens to be the same period when I was practicing self hypnosis the most frequently. I wonder if my hypnotized mind experienced something which made lucid dreaming easier for me to stumble into?

Do you think you accidentally created a tulpa?

or are you talking about full on astral projection, since you mention it happening while awake....astral projection is something ive been fascinated with. would love to hear more about the practice if this is the case.

It’s not a separate being, it’s me; the Spirit me. While the personality me is either engaged in repetitious tasks or ill & dozy. It’s a concept I still struggle to explain because I don’t fully understand it myself. Those familiar with one of my doppelgänger accounts may remember that a “me” that was actually gathering clothes in my room, evidenced by them in my hands when I stepped out, was invisible to an onlooker while doing this. The other “me” that was observed walking to the stalls to feed at the same time produced nothing. ??

Anyway, when lucid dreaming the energy is consumed in almost dragging or projecting a semi solid corporealness distant from ones sleeping body. I sometimes have dreams where I’ve travelled to the Midwest, England, Australia & Russia. The farther away I travel, the more exhausted I am when I wake up. Like my body was on an actual physical journey.

The two are related I think, doppelgänger & dreaming “body”. The same. The doppelgänger is produced while awake in another place, usually while so tired or ill as to be the same as asleep, attentively. The dreaming body is the same projection only while the person is fully asleep.

Very interesting experiences you've had with this....what I find very interesting is that you stated lucid dreaming can be exhausting due to dragging a corporeal self outside the body, that and your other statement of being seen outside the body while dreaming. A lot of recent ppls beliefs on this is that astral projection is just lucid dreaming, mainly because actual projection hasn't been proven....but the big difference in this belief it that you can't actually be seen, so they say actual projection cannot be real....there are a few stories of monks and holy men who were seen 100's of miles from their actual locations as proof of astral projection, this is what interests me of your experience.....without realizing it you may have learned to cross the path from just lucid dreaming to actual astral projection....that could be something to deffinately try to grow and control.

Edited to add:
The reason I said "without realizing it", is because true projection is non exhausting, complete freedom, ( or so its said ). But if you think you're lucid dreaming you may be in a way fighting against it or hindering the freedom of being outside the body.

I have noticed that there comes a point where instead of trying too hard to drag my whole self along (hats boots & all), if I remain less intent on that & just lightly go forward, that it’s less exhausting.

and that could be from accepting what is happening instead of trying to control what is happening.( as you would control lucid dreaming) just going with it instead of clinging to what you perceive as real...(hats, boots etc...). I don't know, I am no expert on this but have always been fascinated with the idea of projection.... thanks for sharing your experiences and if you have more to add im sure we would all like to hear them and your ideas on this topic.

This is the thing that still stumps me. The minute you show volition in lucid dreaming, you become heavy. The minute you don’t, you become light & take off. But then if the dreamscape is not a result of your volition, whose volition is it? This is where the Spirit plays a part I think.

Anyone who has read my PNF posts may recognize that for me, my psychic skills (a) seemed to have developed abruptly at age 16 (not likely to be reality but that’s how it appeared) and (b) I’d had a sincere desire to suppress them in some way over a long period of time becoming critically important to me in my very late 30s.

I’m here to state that gaining control - even prevention - over your skills is still about “developing” those skills.

I didn’t have any clear path for learning about my abilities as a child. But by age 21, I did two things which ultimately led me to at least be able to live sanely with who and what I am:

1. Accept that mystal things do in fact happen and they happen inside of, outside of, and around me. Those occurrences are not exclusive to me - I am only one of probably millions of people who experience psychical communications. Like for many others in my generation, it was hard to talk about these events with any random average person including my family. In short, just because something is incredibly hard to understand or explain does not make it unreal...at least accept that it could be a part of reality.

2. Study some form of meditation; as for me, I chose self hypnosis. I made that choice over other techniques only because I had access to acceptable professional resources for same.

To me, those are the first two foundational steps to psychical growth.

i am in the process of studying meditation , I've come to the conclusion that my root chakra has been polluted by something , which our chakras do get polluted and we have to keep our pennial gland clear and decalcified for our third eye to open . but its kinda hard when everyone else thinks your a crazy person when maybe your getting to much information from the other side or the universe . to know what to do with it all and your brain can't process it all .
