The “laying of the hands”?

Lovely and very accurate answer, Lynne. Thank you.

While still in th medical field, I was trained in something called "Healing Touch". Consider that Reiki for beginners. We were authorized to use it with patients who agreed to it. I worked at a hospital that combined some alternate medicine with convenional medicine.
That is wonderful. I wish they all would do that.

The different healing methods and techniques all work, but they don't always, work.
Why is this?

You'll only discover the answer if you're really interested.
Why is that?

Because the mind is lazy, only sees what it wants to see or is expecting to see.
Even if that answer is staring you straight in your face, you'll miss it.

So the art is, not to search for anything in particular. xx

I’m not sure we have an answer to that, only theory’s. Gods will?, the ability of the healer? Timing and life lessons ? Some times people don’t want to be healed (this does happen). There could be a lot of factors in why healing doesn’t always come. Some things may be just fate.

Some patients form a mental picture of their future as being healed and well, so it always remains, in the future.
I see your point but I think picturing your self well is a good message to send to your body regardless. The mind is powerful on the body. I do understand your point tho.

I am going to have to agree with Lynne here. Faith and the ability to visualize and heal your body or some one else's body is very possible. But, not always probable. Lot's of variables to consider in that thing. I am a firm believer in 'if it's your time, it's your time'. Nothing will change that.

Yes Lynn,
This does happen, and the patient themselves are not always aware of this.

Suffering from a long-lasting illness, naturally creates a deep impression on the unconscious mind.
It builds up its own momentum, its own power; one can compare it to a fast moving train.
To stop it dead in its tracks would be very destructive, so the impression of illness needs to be gradually removed before the healing takes place.

The unconscious mind working on its primal, instinctive level, works totally without intellectual reasoning.
It's been used to existing for so long with discomfort, the discomfort is what it associates with its own personal security; take that security away and it will invent a way to block the healing. xx

Cass, that is a nice piece of writing and I totally agree. The same thing can be said for psychology. I'll just describe this in generalities. If someone has chaos in their life, and that chaos is removed, don't be surprised when they create new chaos in their life, to take its place.

I saw a laying on of the hands healing when I was 11 or 12. My brother had a very high fever and my mother, who was a nurse, said if it goes up one half of a degree he has to go to the hospital.

Our cleaning lady was an old African-American Pentecostal. She put her hands on my brother's head and prayed for about 10 or 15 seconds. The fever broke quickly.

So your saying they need their illness ? If so I must disagree.

Thank you Lynne,

Actually no, this was not meant to imply one needs an illness but to be aware that chronic illness does create a deep "I AM ILL" impression on the unconscious mechanism.
By first removing this impression, one is much more likely to be preparing fertile ground for healing/treatment, xx
