I also had several people tell me to tell the family "Tell them to stop telling me I can let go and cross! I know that, damn it! They sound like cheer leaders!"

They thought my dad was delusional when he came back from the dead and started seeing people and talking to one invisible person. I still remember him telling me that this one guy asked him "Are you afraid to die?" My dad replied "No, are you?" and the guy didn't reply...

Family is often told to "reasure" the patient it's ok for them to go. It goes off the rails when it becomes a mantra for the family.
