The Original Vampire: Before Count Dracula there was Lord Ruthven

As early as 1816, a vampire crept into the imagination of the famous Romantic poet, Lord Byron. Three years later, his personal physician, John Polidori, used the laudanum-fueled writings of his friend and patient to produce his own version of the fiendish ghoul who lives only by night. He called it Lord Ruthven.

Reading about possible vampires throughout history is interesting seems like a lot of people took them serious

Maybe vampires existed back then but just so you know cages like this were meant to stop graverobbers from getting in, not vampires and zombies from getting out. But I heard of one medical condition where people do need to drink blood (not necessarily human blood) in order to survive and are very sensitive to sunlight coincidentally. Let me see if I can find it on Wikipedia.

I remember reading a story a few years ago about doctors visiting small towns in the medieval times due to reports that people would be attacked by family members who had been dead for years and they would die three days later. When they opened the graved the bodies still had blood running through them as if they were alive there are letters written from these doctors somewhere talking about what they had seen. They burned the bodies but there are a lot of reports like this from that time period pretty interesting and spooky.

Sounds like some voodoo stuff man. Do you know of any sites or books that talk about the story in depth? Now you got my interest :)
