Hello everyone! First of all let me say that I'm very happy I discovered this forum and I'm very excited to discuss the paranormal with people who understand it. We all know it can be hard to find people to maturely and respectfully discuss these kinds of things both in real life and on the internet. I have always been hungry for knowledge regarding the paranormal even if I was a bit of a sceptical with some things when I was teenager. That has changed though and I have started believing in more and more things I never thought I would! Any ways, I may be dragging myself a bit too much so I'll just get to what matters.

Some months back I was experiencing some weird stuff in the late hours of the evening. I don't exactly remember how it started, so I'll just start by saying that one time when I smoking uh... "herbs" (sorry if this against forum rules, please let me know so I can edit it asap) and I started feeling uneasy, like something bad was about to happen. It happened a couple of times before things started to really escalate, and it always seemed to happen when I smoked, it could either be a normal cigarette or a herbal one, though with cigarettes it was a lot rarer.

Since my family hates the fact that I smoke, I mostly tried to do it "hidden" from them to avoid unnecessary bickering. So that was what I assumed was my feelings of unease most of the time, just worrying someone might catch me in the act. Except it seemed that every time I felt that unease it was a little stronger than before. Eventually I started to be convinced I might have been attracting an unwanted spirit. Now is when things start getting bizarre.

Now that I strongly suspected it wasn't just my imagination and there was something there with me, I tried making mental contact, like telepathy. And it seems like it was working as I would make a question in my head and soon enough I'd think of an answer. Sure it seems like I might have just been thinking to myself but it really didn't felt like that you know? I felt like I was being compelled to have those thoughts cross my mind. I'm not sure if this is a thing spirits or other entities do, but it sure felt like that was my case. Any way, I decided to not try to "talk" to it any more as I didn't know what it was and if it was harmful.

Now the following 2 events are the big ones, but I don't exactly recall what came first but I think it was my first ever sighting. I have always wanted to see one, but now that I did I had wished the opposite. It was undeniably a shadow person.
I was walking from the bathroom to the living room, and on the corridor that connects them used to be a mirror hanging off the wall on the opposite site of the kitchen door (the kitchen is next to the bathroom, they share a wall). So as soon as I stepped out of the bathroom I saw in the mirror's reflection a man standing still wearing a fedora and what seemed to be a suit. Since it was completely black I could only make his silhouette (from the shoulders up). It was night and the kitchen lights were off so as soon as I saw it I turned around and turned on the lights to see what was causing (what I assumed was at the time) the optical illusion. There was nothing in any angle that remotely resembled what I had seen, even with the lights out. That's when I started suspecting that I just had my first ghost sighting.

Now the second one was when I was smoking stuff again. I was thinking about the Almighty from Above and my father (we have a very difficult relationship) and I remember I was feeling a bit down at the time. That's when I felt like some paternal force had embraced me and was trying to comfort me. I thought I was talking to God like my religious brother claims you do when you are praying and have a close relationship with God... but then things took a dark turn. I suddenly remembered some things I did when I was young and stupid that I now regret immensely and I felt like someone was telling me that I was going to hell for those. It was a very powerful feeling and felt legitimate. I felt like someone was wanting to see me despair.

Recently I have had the impression of hearing growling when alone at the living room during the night. But I have no idea if it is real or just me mistaking it with the sounds the refrigerator does (we temporarily have one in this room, as well as in the kitchen). It doesn't sound exactly like an animal, but it doesn't sound very technology based either. I'm on the fence if it is just my mind playing tricks on me due to nervousness or something paranormal. I have read else where that demons grow so I sure hope it's not that. It's worth mentioning that this seems to be the only activity I have experienced in several months and that the previous two events happened before there was a refrigerator here. So it's very possible I'm not hearing any actual growling.

There have also been some other minor stuff, but again I don't know if it's all in my head and I'm scaring myself or indeed it is something otherworldly.

So I was wondering if anyone can give me a hand and provide some insight into this? I'm not sure exactly sure what is going on. PS: sorry for the loooong ass text, I didn't mean to write an essay lol

Welcome to the forum Wisps! As for the herbs mention, I actually appreciate that you brought it up. Sometimes people won’t even bring it up, so we can’t add that to the equation when we help point people to a sound answer (sometimes there’s no straight forward answers in the paranormal) I’ll let one of the staff better explain how the rules regarding drug references work here.

So this also happens when you’ve smoked cigarettes? That’s good, as it rules out you seeing things under the influence of marijuana. While it’s said it heightens your senses to the otherwise unseen, some people rarely hallucinate under the influence.

I believe what you saw was the Hat man. Let me pull some stuff up in a minute about him.

Ok can’t find any threads on him, so here it goes.

The hat man is like the shadow people, and said to be of the same class of spirit, and usually they’re accompanied by plain old shadow people. He can simply watch and observe you like the shadow people, or sometimes he can be menacing and threatening. I’m just gonna read through your post again, but how were your experiences with the hat man?

I’d say that’s a very evil spirit. I’ve only heard of demons using this kind of deception to target victims. And they can as they were once angels, and Satan used to be a Saraph (the burning ones, known for being brilliantly bright, beautiful and closest to God) before his fall, and still uses that to deceive people.

First of all thanks for the warm welcome :D

And yeah, I felt it was important to add the info regarding marijuana for those exact reasons. My boyfriend said very carnal acts and pleasures like sex, eating, smoking, etc are things that can attract spirits which is why there are many rituals from various religions that use them. And like you said, a few people hallucinate when they smoke grass but I've never been one of them.

Welp that's not very encouraging lol

Outside of quickly glimpsing that hatted figure in the mirror, I've never had other experience with him. I know my sisters have had some paranormal experiences (especially the eldest one who is wicca and also seems to be a bit of magnet for this stuff) but I couldn't tell you if they were the Hat Man.

That's very worrying but not too surprising. I figured it would take a more powerful entity to manipulate someone like that.

So angels are real too? And the whole ban of Satan from heaven etc? It wasn't until recently that I started suspecting there is truth to that story.

At least I've never been physically harmed by what ever is/was here. My eldest sister might have thought, but it was eons ago (more than 10 years I think) and she slept at a friend's house. If I'm not mistaken they were reading/studying paranormal stuff or they were listening to records backwards and when she was showering she starting feeling a stinging pain on her thigh and when she looked there seemed to be a hand mark. And when they woke up the next morning she said the ceiling was marked exactly the same shape as their bodies when they slept. Like if it was burned or something.

Yup. Very real. I think I’ve met one as a matter of fact. Sometimes when we encounter them they’re rather indifferent to us as they don’t want you to get the idea that you should trust in them, after all we’re supposed to bring all our grievances to God.

I think the church as a whole has watered down how that all works as they don’t want people freaking out about demons. It’s a smart move I suppose but it leaves a lot to the imagination and of course pop culture.

You mentioned your eldest sister is a Wiccan. Have you ever brought up any of these encounters up with her, if that’s her thing? I know all wiccans are different and not all of them are into that kind of thing.

Get the salt.......
All jokes aside that must have been terrifying. Did any of you take any action to deal with that after it happened?

That's very interesting. Is there a thread where you posted more about it? I'd love to know more about it.

And I definitely agree with you that the church must have watered it down a bit.
