In the summer of 1980, I saw the movie "Final Coutdown" with a theater full of USS Nimitz crewmembers in Norfolk, VA. This was a month or two after Nimitz returned to port after the failed Iranian hostage rescue attempt. While the movie wasn't that good, there were some great flying sequences in the film. In one particular scene, USN F-14s shot down two Japanese Zero fighters attacking an unarmed yacht. When the order was given for the F-14s to intervene, the sailors erupted in a cheer that sent chills down my spine.
yeah, theres nothing like seeing a war movie in a post theatre....
top gun was one of the few movies that actually captures the "feeling" of military life, along with a good plot. theres been some good movies but only a very few can actually throw you back to another time or memory.... top gun can do that, and the movie "fury" and "jarhead" the last line of jarhead is really powerful.....good movies

I'd forgotten how good a movie The birds is, the wee girl is played by Veronica Cartwright I didn't know that. She sent me a signed photo after I met her and her sister in Los Angeles which I have on the wall of my living room. I was just two years old when Hitchcock made that movie, rated 15 I saw it when I was maybe seven or eight and it scared the c*** out of me then and haven't seen it since until now.

Having a great Wednesday night :)

I really liked Tom Skerritt in Top Gun - great supporting character.
