There are many ways to ground yourself. Do you have one that works best for you?
Still figuring out what works for me. Kinda hard to earth when it’s all concrete in this city

Charleh, if you can't ground or eath outside, invest in plants that you can grow inside. Working the earth in them is another way to connect with earthing / grounding. I keep plants all over my house, and try to always have at least 2 that are flowering or shooting off babies so that I can be tuned in to the earth even during the winter when it's not as easy to be outside. Spider / airplane plants are great and succulents can be potted continually year round,. You can even just invest in herbs that you grow fresh yourself to use both for cooking and grounding.

I’m familiar with this technique. But being a middle aged man, I fear sitting on the ground and leaving a “faux shat stain” on my pants. I don’t wear a long cloak - wish I did though cause it would be aaaaawesome - so I have no way to hide that specific embarrassement.

Since I’ve got a minor-to-medium comfort level (3.5 out of 10 stars) with energy, I prefer a technique I can use more broadly in more places including times when I can’t (or don’t want to) put my behind on the ground.

I prefer to envision grounding energy entering with my breath as I inhale and also energy moving into me through my limbs. Therefore, I’m not as focused on moving energy through my spine when I’m not sitting on the ground.

Hardest part for me is being able to quiet myself when I might not be able to get to an actual quiet space. I still have to work at that because certain sounds still startle me when my eyes are closed.

For anyone starting to learn about energy, the technique you’ve shared above Debi is great. With that position you don’t have to focus as much on your balance when you are seated; and, a newbie doesn’t really deserve to be distracted with balancing at the same time they are trying to tune into other things.

I'm glad I found this thread. I mean, grounding is very important. I try to feel my root chakra, then I focus on this energy center for 5-10 minutes.
Before doing spiritual work, always ground yourself first!

some grounding with stones; semi precious or cut shaped stones many people know about. The wearing of a tactile object itself may also ground albeit Via an active choice & intent yet passively on your part 24/7. The combination of chosen semi precious stones, or self strung (or purchased) bracelets or necklaces or chaplet beads present gemstones and a physical tactile awareness . This tactile awareness brings with it a visual perspective both are also
grounding when “floaty”. Ground can be chosen & built up into layers. Times you might choose it include when you: are around crowds;
in close quarters with others ;
it’s full moon or
solar flare or
you are engaging in lots of energy experience.
Times when boundaries between self and others might be challenged/so you can ground.
Ways include see or feel stone jewelry, then recall, recall boundary then actively ground deliberately breathe build a visualized circle of light around yourself or even mirror after glancing back at the hand wearing the ring (particularly if you don’t recognize the hand at first, utilize jewelry such as a dome ring or stacked rings, textures and edge on stone or setting, wearing a cuff, wearing heavy beads at neck or choker heavy beads or long swinging heavy pendant, noisey beads on wrist clank as move can ground.

Feet on earth is grounding dirt sand bare stone however you can tactiley ground through some footwear (and other footwear is very floaty- it’s very easy to not be grounded)
a center or toe strap on Sandal toe straps sensation can pull you into here and now into your body or back into yourself, as can heavy or laced boots or oxfords which you can not only feel but recognize as you see.

Grounding ritually hike to and sleep in a hollowed giant sequoia; lean against seated at the base of a tree.
A pencil is part, of a tree,
Of course a pencil dragging across textures paper can ground you;
Sketching as a daily grounding art as a spiritual crafted grounding ritual making a garden sketch grounds Through pencil clay graphite earths you garden sketching your earthlive is grounding , even when you’re not barefoot ! And that pencil travels well so so can you, and you can stay grounded too regroups regrounds each time you pick it up feel the wood in your hand breathe and remember the giant sequoia or tree in your life press it down pull across the page hear the graphite scratch see the line be become before you now rebound .

Be at it hear a pasture see listen smell herds of livestock Gather skeins of spun wool yarn link recall it’s attached to all the life in the pasture
Later in the still of the car, a moving truck, on a chair, leaning anywhere the wool can still ground you
the tender gentle drag of sifted scratchy wool yarn across your finger when you knit or crochet; the tug between hands and yarn pull stitch through can balance be a counterpoint ground for you to ground through;

Be at a cotton field in bloom. Sit on the bare earth or stand in or hear the field touch the dirt breath the dust touch the cotton pick it up. Ground into the earth thankful cotton bloom scratchy crispy sticks and stems. Remember cotton sewing hems quilting seaming cotton dreaming. Crochet cotton weave loom cotton knit cotton yarn touching draped on wrist touching fingers think of this. Cotton Grounding knit thread sew crochet loom or weave cotton is as we perceive cotton (ground through cotton.)

You can ground in Qi gong breathes and moves; you can ground in some yoga too; and the curve of your arms and elbows just so recall some moment of movement breathing grounding - right now as you pick up your coffee or cocoa or mocha or tea
a sip of warm to hot drink sip, breathe, exhale can be a grounding routine, to hold the cup and lift it up you sip and breath and drink it up /see, it works.

Some people think of birds as being of sky and as a matter of fact they are right. But I was raised around flocks of turkeys and they were on the ground, to me bird feathers wrapped in down with cotton fabric wrappers lift me up lift ne in safety just like the ground covered in white gobbling turkeys noise and motion of birds legs white bodies feathers brushes past surrounded me their hundreds of feet on the ground my feet surrounded by their feet all here on the ground . So now I wear a piece of down sweater ,when I a down jacket is a comforter held safe just like when those turkeys gobbled around in great crowds and I stood safe. You must find your safe spot too, where time in past memory and a token today can signify that memory to you & transfer that comfort and safety and emotional psychic grounding of that remembered moment of utter peace in the vast masses of life physically represented in that memory-/// to this moment
/
Where some way metaphysically you bring yourself a ground from the past like a true thread weaving you .

You hit the nail on the head. The one constant in my life is hitting golf balls. Through all of the sports that I have played I was always playing golf. I was good at some sports and pretty much sucked the rest.:)
It's a Zen thing. I like to chip balls in my backyard. I like it when there is no phone. I turn on my little talk radio and listen to the Catholic priest. Then that guy teaches me some things:cool:.
After a while I wandered down to the lake and hit a few full shots. I know that those balls churn up in the water- but what the hell I pay taxes.
