Possible Activity - Brand New House?

Finding out the history of the land in who used to live there could be a lot of fun. An old plat of survey could give you a clue about what went on in the past. The town 20 miles away may have a library or a small museum. I live in a small town and they kind of combined the two. Old Timers in diners can be a great resource.
For example I live near Chicago. Native Americans suffered a lot of hardship during the Long Walk. Before that it was French territory. Sightings of fur traders and soldiers are not uncommon. There is even a story about a circus train that derailed and caught fire. People who have never heard about this claim to have seen ghosts of elephants and exotic animals.
And welcome to the Forum.

Welcome to the forum and thanks for sharing.
Sounds like you are having some paranormal activity. Something as simple as a house cleaning may do the trick. Smudging your home with sage or Palo Santo Wood. You have to get the smoke in all the corners and closets.

Welcome to the fourm, Dasjman. Glad to have you with us.

First, let me say you did a GREAT job of laying out the activity. Thank you for such clarity. What you describe is actually exactly what many others describe when a haunting first begins. Every single thing, including the pigs turning, fit a haunting scenario. The thing about true activity is it comes in short events that leave us scratching our heads going,"Did that just happen?" As the spirits get bolder, the activity gets a bit more "in your face" and obvious.

Paint is correct...they want your attention. Now come my questions. Do you want to get rid of/stop the activity? Some people do and some people get drawn in by it and want to see "more"...never a good idea, actually. You are doing well with taking the route of researching. Also, do you have any religious affiliations? Clergy may come into play here depending on what you want as an outcome to this.
Spot on response and great advice as always Debi.

Welcome to the forum....
As someone new to paranormal experiences I commend you on your ability to analyze every experience with detail and logical/rational thought.
I've been an investigator for years and there are allot of clients that aren't always able to do this. Sometimes that makes figuring out a situation much more difficult. Everything your telling us lines right up to the beginning of a standard haunting. I say "standard" with caution because hauntings are not always predictable. I would definitely research the property as much as possible. I know this may sound strange, but also consider some of the objects in your home. Where did some of your trinkets (like the pigs) come from? Sometimes objects can have certain energy attachments.
I would like to know, what are your religious beliefs.....if you are religious.
The fact that both figures were dressed almost identically, the man didn't have a distinct facial features and the childs features weren't all there concerns me a bit.

No specific religious affiliation. I'm not a big fan of organized religion, but still have my own faith. Wife is the same.

Quick update. Everything was quiet since my last rely, or at least nothing stood out. A couple nights ago, as I was laying in bed, from the master bath came two quick "snaps" like someone snapping with their fingers. No idea what could have caused that sound. Nothing happened after that. My wife was asleep, so the house was otherwise quiet and dark.

Glad to hear things have quieted down.

Spectre, can you elaborate - what is it that potentially concerns you about this?

Latest update: A couple weeks ago, I was in bed, wife asleep, when the sound of someone crunching a thin, empty, plastic bottle occurred for approximately five seconds. Then not long after, it happened again. My wife does have a water bottle on her nightstand, but it is a thick plastic and was full of water. I hope I've described the noise good enough for most to understand the sound I mean.

One night, it literally sounded like the kitchen (which is right outside the master bedroom, and the door was open) was being torn apart. Slamming, banging, all sorts of racket for about 10-15 seconds. I got up, but nothing appeared to have been disturbed.

Also, playing with the dog, there have been several times where she will be chasing after a toy in the house, and she will slam on the brakes and stare at a spot for up to 20 seconds and then she won't be willing to go get the toy. If I throw the toy where she was staring again, she will not chase after it. Mainly a spot in the dining room.

Other than these few incidents over the last few weeks, things had been fairly quiet for the better part of the last year.
