Radio host Art Bell dies at 72 in Pahrump home

LAS VEGAS (KSNV) — Radio host Arthur William Bell passed away Friday, April 13.

Arthur Bell, also known as Art Bell was the original owner of Pahrump based radio station KNYE 95.1 FM. And perhaps best known for his conspiracy theory in the paranormal, with his radio show "Coast to Coast" - which was syndicated across the nation.

The Nye County Sheriff's Office says Bell died at his home in Pahrump, Nevada.

Bell is scheduled for an autopsy later this week to determine the cause of death.

He was 72-years-old.

Art is the reason we're all here. This forum was established originally as an Art Bell forum. We will remember him with love and good memories of shows that left us laughing, crying, and sometimes yelling at our radios. Feel free to share your memories about Art, as we say goodbye to one of a kind.

NO! I was watching the news report about Syria Charleh posted and when it was done I came back to find out Art died... That to me was more devastating. Art brought us all together. HERE on this forum, it was a place we came to listen to the show without the hassling trolls from belgab! I owe many things to Art he gave me you people! My family... Friday the 13th should be a day we all get together and listen to midnight in the desert. Ironic.

Brilliant idea.

I didn’t know much about the guy. Never got into his shows. But one night when I decided to read the forum archives, I stumbled on the day that Art Bell officially retired from radio as threats were made against his family.

He seemed like a guy that didn’t know how to quit. Although I never got to know the character of Art I gotta give him props for bringing us all together one way or another with this forum.

Wait. He did coast to coast. That’s on AM770 CHQR in Alberta. So he hosted that? Or did he just host it in certain regions?

When I was a teenager when I couldn’t sleep I either turned on CBC radio one or AM770. Whatever I felt like at the time.

I discovered Art Bell in the 1990s on a sleepless night. What a radio show he started. I am not a night person, but sometimes I would listen when I couldn't sleep or more often, I would catch the tail end of his show when I woke in the mornings. I look back at those days and his show fondly. May you rest in peace, Art.
