I'd forgotten about that with St. Christopher, Paul. Thanks for reminding me.
For those who may not have heard the story.........
St.christopher belonged to a tribe of dog headed ppl who would raid and eat the surrounding villages, killing all in sight, well after a while the different settlements combined forces and attacked the marauders, taking many prisoner and making them slaves to the king. Christopher being one of these
After a few years, st. christopher fell into favor of the king, earning his trust and finally becoming true friends. So much so that the king, before he died, gave Christopher his freedom back.
Now being free, Christopher set out to find the most powerful king in the world to serve, but after finding him he soon noticed that whenever the king saw occultist or evil he would steer away and hide, so christopher thought to himself this can't be the most powerful man if he fears the devil, so I'll search him out and serve him. Which he did.
But after a while he noticed that whenever the followers of the devil heard the name Jesus they would become fearful and hide, so once again christopher said, they arent the most powerful around, I must find this person called Jesus and serve him.
Well after years of searching he came to rest by a river, and as he was about to give up a group of travelers happened by, so he asked them if they knew of Jesus and if so where could he find him. They told him if he would dedicate his life to helping mankind and meditate and pray he would surely find Jesus.
He asked how he could do that and they said, see this river? Many ppl have died trying to cross it in their travels, why dont you help ppl cross it and surely your good deeds will benefit you soon. So he did just that, he carried many across the river who couldn't do it on their own.
One day he was lying on the riverbank when a small child aproached and asked for help crossing, he placed the child on his back and began swimming across only to find that halfway across he was having to give it his all to make it. Once on the other side he crawled out and asked how such a small child could feel so heavy,
The child said, you weren't just carrying me, you were also carrying the sins of the world, I am Jesus, the one whom you have been searching, and for your kindness and perseverance I will make you whole, at that moment he was changed into a normal man and became St. Christopher, patron st. of travelers......
Of course that's kinda the condensed version...... But you get the gist from it....lol
