I was just in the kitchen now getting something to eat (time of event was 00:25). I suddenly heard the roof (corrugated flat roof outside and normal ceiling boards on the inside) crackling a little bit, which is not uncommon here because sometimes guinea fowl, or large owls tend to wonder on the roof and there's the occasional rat that runs along inside the roof. But then the sound got very loud and heavy. It actually sounded as though someone was stomping their feet on the roof.
Even the dogs that were sleeping in the kitchen reacted to the sound and got out of bed to investigate. They are used to the large birds that walk on the roof so they tend to ignore the usual crackling sound as well. I was starting to consider the possibility that someone may be trying to break in but then the matter got more bizarre. Whatever it was that was on the roof started to move around on it very quickly. Our kitchen is quite elongated and these steps were racing from one end to the other faster than what a person could do, and as the steps reached the one end of the roof they were already continuing to the other side of the roof, and this pattern continued for several seconds. Even the dogs were following the sounds along the roof, and the steps were getting heavier. I was starting to anticipate a portion of the roof to cave in given how heavy the steps were sounding.
I went to wake my mom to get her to listen but when we returned to the kitchen, the sound had stopped and the dogs were getting back into bed. I have lived in this house my entire life (24 years) and no pipes or temperatures acting on the metal roof have ever produced what I experienced just now. If there was really something on the roof it was very big, and very quick.
And another odd thing that happened earlier at around 20:50, we were watching TV (we have an open-plan lounge and dining room) and we heard one of the dining chairs being moved an inch along the tiled floor. We checked it out and there was nothing there to cause it. I'll see how events go but I'm started to consider another huge haunting is about to take place here. Will keep you guys posted.
