Three years after the initial haunting (see Haunting of 2002/2003 (where it all began)), the paranormal activity began to increase again and this time whatever it was seemed to have followed me around. It was during this time period when I first noticed paranormal things happening around me that had no prior paranormal history.
Initially I just thought that the activity was going to be the same as in 2003, as I started experiencing heavy presences in my room again. This was the also the first time I experienced a presence through smell. The one night I was laying in bed and suddenly I got this powerful smell of sawdust/wood. I didn't feel threatened by the presence or anything, in fact I felt quite safe around it. The reason for this was because I am certain it was my dad, as he did a lot of carpentry as a hobby and often smelled like sawdust after doing some wood work.
One Saturday in June of 2006, my prep school had a sports/family day function. Me and one of my friends went to the bathroom just to wash our faces after a hockey match, and we heard one of the showers running. Now the strange thing is no one ever used these showers, even after matches or practices. So I called out just to see if someone responded, but no one answered. After calling out a few times, we went to see if maybe someone hadn't hurt themselves in the shower which is why they weren't responding. When we got to the shower there was no one, so naturally we thought one of students left it on as a joke or something. I turned the water off and as we were about to walk away, the shower on the end of the room (there was a row of showers there) suddenly started running. It was a bit odd but we didn't think anything of it so I went and turned that one off as well. When we started walking out again, the shower at the end and one of the showers in the middle started running. That freaked us out so we just ran for it.
Later in the year, me and my friend conducted a ghost hunt on my plot the one evening. We went to various places on the plot and snapped pictures, and we even tried conducting audio recordings. Two photos showed something promising. The one was a white apparition in the bathroom of the entertainment room (also called the pool room), but given the set up of the room I'm still a bit skeptical. The other image contained a potential figure in the window of an old building and some other anomalies (see Ghost Hunt of 2006. Thoughts?). Regrettably I deleted the audio recordings after hearing nothing on them, but my way of analyzing them was listening on the computer via Windows Media Player and using normal speakers. I didn't think of maybe trying to listen through headphones or keep the audio to have any noise edited out etc.
A few weeks after the ghost hunt, I was laying in bed and once again began feeling a presence in the room. But this time it was different. As the presence grew stronger, I heard an empty crisps packet (there was one lying on the floor at the foot of my bed) crinkling very loud, as though someone was crunching it in their hand really hard. The crinkling stopped and I could hear some movement in my room, and while this was happening the presence was becoming more overwhelming. I felt so uneasy I pulled the blanket over my face, I had never felt a presence as strong as this one. The movement (i guess it sounded like footsteps but it was hard to tell) stopped and the next thing my heart is racing and I felt as though I was going to have a panic attack. I lower the blanket and next to my bed, right in front of me just inches away, stood this dark humanoid figure. I didn't know how to process this situation, and I was staring at this apparition for about three seconds before ducking under the blankets again and feeling terrified. Suddenly the presence subsided and when I looked out again, the apparition was gone.
After that experience the presences were often felt in my room but no other form of paranormal activity occurred for several months, until about February 2007. At this time, I would feel presences at home only, but more significant events would take place around me at my high school (but given the high school's past, it was rumored to be haunted). The first occurrence was in class and the teacher was busy explaining some concept, but I wasn't paying attention, but instead I was looking at my pen situated in the middle of my desk and suddenly it slid in a very uniform/smooth manner to the end of the desk. Keep in mid the desk was level and not off-balance, no one bumped the desk etc.
The next occurrence at the school was one afternoon I was walking to the bathroom and as I looked through door while approaching the room, I just saw what looked like someone running away into the bathroom further away from the door. The room was not well lit so I couldn't tell who it was. When I walked in the room was empty but I felt a presence in the room.
But the most significant experience I had during this time period was also witnessed by my friend and his mother. It was after hockey practice and we were walking to our lockers to get our bags. So the set up of the area was, there was a pathway going passed the school hall with the hall entrance on the right of the path and the entrance to the passage way where the lockers were was on the left, and this passage could be locked at night via an iron gate (which was left open during the day). So my friend's mom was standing in the pathway between the two entrance points waiting for him while we went to get our bags. On the way back, my friend walked passed the gates first, and when I walked passed, the gates and their frame began to rattle and vibrate considerably, and all three of us witnessed this. The ground was not shaking so I don't think it was seismic activity, and neither of us bumped the gates with our bags.
By late 2007, much like the first haunting, the presences subsided and the activity stopped for a while. This haunting was quite jarring compared to the initial one of 2002/2003, but neither of these hauntings compare to that of the 2010 haunting. And even though this was the first time strange things happened around me outside of my home, I still assumed it was my school that was haunted, and only after starting university did I consider it was me triggering the activity (see in a future post).
