Hello everybody,

I am desperately looking for an answer to what happened to me last night, because i'm still left in fear.
I very clearly remember dreaming a random dream, with not a lot going on in it. All of a sudden, i saw my (passed away) grandpa approaching me and he came to sit next to me on a bench. As soon as i recognized his healthy-looking (not ill!) face , everything turned bright white around him, like the sun. I don't think i have ever seen such a clear, white light before. I felt how everything began to shake, the vibrations around me were so powerful and it scared me, even in my 'dream'. Then i heard a male, echoing voice, saying: 'Hanne (my name), you know i am always with you. I returned in name of the death to...' and then i felt how i lost connection to the dream and litterally 'fell' awake, gasping for breath. I immediately started crying, out of fear of how powerful this unexpected meeting/dream was.

My grandfather died almost 2 years ago and i have to say: we were family and saw each other regularly, but i wouldn't say we were very close. I have never ever had paranormal experiences before, but i always believed the stories are true.

What do you guys think of this? Was this just a dream? Or does anyone recognize this as sort of visitation dream? If so, does the message 'i returned in name of the death to...' feel to you guys as sinister as it feels to me?

I appreciate all answers,
Thank you

Hanne, it appears to me that your Grand Father was just paying you a visit to say hello and, as you said, to let you know that he is always around. I take this vision as a good sign, nothing to be feared.

Thanks a lot for the comforting answer and warm welcome!
These experiences are new to me and now that i know they are harmless, i'm happy!
Hi Hanne! Welcome! I agree with 7Christie. Most visitation dreams are simply to say hello and let you know they are looking over you. I wouldn't be frightened at all. Words often don't cross the veil well, but I would take his presence simply as an affirmation that we do live on after death and care about those we leave behind.

Hanne, welcome! I agree with the above answers. I have had similar visits in my dreams. You know in your gut it's a REAL visit. You may not have felt that close to your Grandpa but his feelings for you are obviously strong. I would consider this visit a gift.

At first: thank you all for the comforting words and friendly welcome!
Debi, the thing you say about words not crossing the veil very well is very interesting, because i was conscious of the fact that i couldn't talk back to him. It was like I couldn't open my mouth. The echoing voice was very powerful and loud, but i simply couldn't say anything back. This makes me believe that what i saw, was real even more. Even more remarkable was the fact that when i woke up and went downstairs for a bottle of water, i noticed how disoriented I was when I turned the lights on. I simply didn't recognize my room as 'much' as I usually do. And when i got out of bed, I noticed how I couldn't keep my balance. I know this might be caused by a low blood pressure, but I can't remember me having difficulty with walking straight after getting out of bed before.

This all confirms that this wasn't just an ordinary dream, right? Or do you feel different about it?
Thank you very much.

Hi again, Hanne. I've been doing dream work for over 50 years, so I can tell you that many times, when we're open to it, loved ones do come back and visit. This is a documented phenomena and occurs to many people. It can often lead us to some disorientation on waking, and it's nothing to worry about.

We often can't answer back, simply because we're supposed to hear the message, not give one. Now, there are many events that can happen in the dream world. One is Lucid Dreaming, when you can interact and control your dreamstate. Another is astral projection, which is the soul leaving the body to go visit other places (you WILL come back, no worries.) And then we have these visitation dreams.

I see you are young and new to this! :) I would suggest some things, as the paranormal/spiritual world now has your attention. First, I'd start a dream journal. Write down any dreams you have immediately upon waking. Look back at them later and see what you learn about yourself from them. Second, perhaps you'd like to research a bit more on the topic of Lucid dreams and Astral projection? If so, there are many articles here on site about them. I shall try to find you a few quick links.
