Yes, very disturbing. I grew up with the generation where the TV was our babysitter and distraction. I ended up seeing these movies when I was way too young and they really scared me. I didn't understand all the messages and meanings of the symbolism as a kid, I just knew that the gorillas were really mean and scary!
I remember seeing them at the drive in. Can't remember how old I was. Probably a young teen. The last message of our total distraction was clear. I figure we face that fear daily.
