My first thought was that could be a lenticular cloud. Here's a photo of the cover of a "Look" magazine from the 1960s dedicated solely to UFOs that featured a lenticular cloud. Too bad there are no videos or photos shot by regular cameras, as opposed to the thermal images shown in the article.
