An earthquake which had a magnitude of 5.8 was picked up on Wednesday just 6 miles from Lincoln in Montana and to the northwest of Yellowstone National Park. It was said that the earthquake could be felt in both Washington and Oregon states.

The earthquake at M5.8 is the biggest to have hit close to the region of Yellowstone and it was reported at 23: 30: 16 / 11.30pm local time on 6 July 2017, with the epicenter being at a depth of 4.3km. The quake was then said to have been followed by another two earthquakes, both of them classes as being moderate at M4.5 and M3.9.
