When I was 15 I was certain I had a lucky rubber band. I had this rubber band that I wore on my wrist and I swear everything just went my way. I had this strict science teacher and the one morning I hadn't done my homework so I was dreading her class. She walks in and says we're not doing class work today, instead we could just focus on our science projects.

Then the next day we had double English and were suppose to discuss this one horrible book which I really wasn't in the mood for. The teacher forgot she had us that day and didn't show up for an hour.

Later that week I had a hockey match and after my match wanted to go buy food and something to drink but I was broke. I then went looking for something in my bag and found a R50 note.

It was like, whatever I wanted to happen, would happen. But then the band broke :( and I never had such luck again.

But two weeks ago I had two lucky incidents on the roads. Once I was one the way to work and this lady tried to cut the line going onto the high way but the gap closed so she slammed on brakes and the car behind her rear-ended her, but somehow given her angle, she wasn't rammed into my car. The next day on the way home from work I had two cars in front of me and I just had a feeling I should keep a bit of distance. Both these cars changed to the next lane but at the same time a car from the far right lane did the same thing. That car hit the first car in the bumper and the car in front of me t-boned the car from the far right line. If I had maintained my initial speed, I would have been part of that accident.

Sometimes I wonder if I have been lucky or someone / entity / angel had stepped into my life to protect me, offered good fortune, made things work out just right. A good example is, our fridge is going out. It's old and had a good life. While the Mrs and I are shopping for a new one, a friend offers up their fridge that is sitting in their garage. It is very similar in theme design to our current one. Is that luck ? Did someone step in ? I am lucky to have friends and entities in my life.

In the vein of the question at hand, meeting my future wife and having three beautiful daughters is highest among good fortune / luck.

I won a car, a two seater "Tin Lizzie" when I was ten. It wasn't street legal and was meant for entertainment but I had a blast in it. I did drive it around the block a few times, but mostly in our yard. When I got older, my Dad gave it to a friend who had kids.

As I reflect upon my post (as I often do) I would say the luckiest thing in my life is my family and friends.

I was in grade school on one snowy winter morning and school was called off. The early movie on TV was Abbott and Costello's "Hold That Ghost". I was just discovering Abbott and Costello so this was a big deal. Well that turned into a blizzard and the station rearranged their programming because all of the kids would be home for days. And played a lot of Abbott and Costello movies.

Saw Manafest play live at YC 2013. And walked out of the concert with 10 guitar picks.

One week into learning some marketing tactics, I gave my sister just two tips to marketing and her sales went up tenfold overnight. That was part knowledge part giving the right two tips out of maybe 20.

As far as winning something like lotto numbers or prizes. I haven’t been very lucky. Once I won a pool cue and another time I won 50 dollars on a single roulette chip. I didn’t even buy the chip. The person running the game handed it to me to get me to play. I took my money and walked out lol.

I have had some life emergencies that I have been lucky enough to have had help just when i needed it.
