OK! We have heard over and over the commercials about the new Food in the Box movement. You order, they send you the ingrediants, and you fix it up. I've always been staunchly against such a thing (as an old school cook it just seemed wrong to me! lol) BUT one of our members has given this idea her absolute approval and high rating!

Have you tried any of these meals in cardboard? (Sorry...the snarky cook peaking out there...lol)

What do you think? Good? Bad? Is there one better than another? What do you see as the advantages of this system?

Not necessarily my style. But if it gets people in the kitchen and gets some one excited about cooking, that's a good thing.
There is that point. I'm afraid I wouldn't be good at following instructions. I tend to add a bit here, change things as I go. Now, I can see it might open up some people to knew taste profiles and perhaps trying a new type of food easier.

I also like that idea that they include a small amount of the correct herbs and spices. Stuff like that can get really expensive. And you may not use it again for another year.

Very good point Paint. I don’t think it would be economical for a family but for two people I can see it. I have friends that love it. They have two or three pre planned meals with all the ingredients pre measured and ready to prepare. Saves them time and is convienent. Personally i don’t want another bill but I do see the appeal. Especially for someone like me who is not a fancy cook.

I went to Aldi recently. (This is sort of on topic.) I usually don't shop there. But I was stunned by the amount of processed food that they sell. It seems as though everything is in a box or a can and made by a machine. Sad.

I agree. You can’t even find white cheese without colouring. WHITE CHEESE! this is what the FDA thinks is good for us.
