This is my only 'real' UFO encounter experienced about three years ago. I was at a friend's house which is the top flat in a block which sits on a hill looking East so the views are wonderful. We usually sit at a table in the large bay window to enjoy the scenery. Something caught my eye and coming towards the house was a large silver oval I estimated to be around 40 feet in diameter about 150 feet in altitude. I shouted for my friend who was in the kitchen as I tried to turn on the video camera in my ancient smartphone. He came into the living room and we both watched it approaching the house when it made an abrupt turn North, nothing smooth about just that instant sharp change of direction. We watched it slowly grow smaller for around two minutes until it faded from view. Reviewing what I'd captured with the phone camera was disappointing as the object didn't show, maybe I should have tried for stills.

I've since loaded the video file into several editors and tried all sorts of filtering but no joy. As I mentioned in my earlier post I know the sky very well being an amateur astronomer, pilot and flight test observer so I'm sure the size and altitude estimates are as close to accurate as I can be. It was definitely not a balloon. The closest I can find online are the videos many people have taken of the silver spherical spheres in Mexico except what I saw was much lower and closer, it wasn't a sphere but slightly oval and I got the impression it was spinning as it had the slightest of wobbles.

Very interesting. You mention not being able to get a pic or video, which happens many times. I have a theory....just a guess. During my experience, I was rather frozen in place, but during it I felt a "hum" within my body. Like a vibration with no sound. It makes me wonder if these things are inter-dimensional (so therefore blur in pics) or whatever type of drive unit they use on these things may interfere with pics. Thoughts?

I put it down to the poor tech on my ancient smartphone but the thought had crossed my mind that what we were seeing was some kind of field rather than a metallic object. Very highly reflective, mirror like it was extraordinary, I'm glad that both of us witnessed this but no other reports elsewhere around that time but that's not unusual, how many people walk around looking up at the sky?

One of the strangest things I saw that got my heart racing happened years ago when I had taken my telescope out to the garden and was waiting for condensation to clear from the lens. Clear skies I was picking out the emerging stars and constellations when I saw a number of orange, glowing pulsating objects in a V formation flying directly above me. Astonished I watch for a minute or so and then it hit me, what I was seeing was a formation of high flying geese who were reflecting the setting sun which would still have been visible at altitude but not on the ground.

I just got a cell/smart phone 10 months ago....still learning how to use the darn thing. My kids dragged me into the 21st century off my landline. lol

I was lucky to have a neighbor a field over see what I saw and verified it the next day. She called to ask "What the HECK was THAT over your house last night?" The field theory is a good one. Still trying to figure out that inner vibration thing I experienced. Different from trembling. Totally an inward thing.

A friend had a similar experience to yours a few years ago and also talks about feeling a strange vibration. Since then most weekends she gets in her car at night and drives out to the same spot armed with still and video cameras in case it shows up again. I've never joined her in her vigils and really don't expect to see anything again. What does get me out is the frequent aurora we've been having recently as the Sun is very active at the moment although it shouldn't be. The first time I saw it it was bright enough to wake me out of sleep lighting the room up green through closed curtains simply awe inspiring.

That is sooo cool you get to see that Yes I have been following the sun reports as well. It appears the spot is still there and will be moving back to face the earth again soon. We may not be out of the CME's yet.

Yes, more CME's to come I suspect and some spectacular displays. I'm lucky enough to live far enough North to get the chance to see
