I just got done reading an article that I totally disagree with. An excerpt (with the statement that set me off) and the link are below:

The statement:

The less religious people are, the more likely they are to endorse empirically unsupported ideas about U.F.O.s, intelligent aliens monitoring the lives of humans and related conspiracies about a government cover-up of these phenomena.

Opinion | Don’t Believe in God? Maybe You’ll Try U.F.O.s

The article itself tries to draw a direct link to people becoming less religious and turning to the paranormal as a replacement for spirituality.

In my experience here on the forum, I have found that our members are some of the most spiritual and/or religious people I have ever met. In fact, most of those I have encountered over the years are looking at the paranormal in an attempt to explain it from a religious viewpoint!

Before I send a seething message to this author who obviously has not a clue, or facts to back the claim, weigh in here for me. Do YOU think the claim in the article is valid?

The "author" has NO clue what they are talking about !!! This "article" was just a piece of pseudo intellectual nonsense....imho....

I am not religious at all and have no desire to be......But I think the article has it backwards....

This is just as ridiculous as the condescending comments about religious followers. The idea that if you believe in God that you basically have to check your intelligence at the door because only an uneducated person would allow themselves to believe in something you can't "prove". Obviously there are innumerable people who believe in God who are highly educated, but that is not a requirement!

I saw this yesterday...after a funny last week. One of the girls was asked to spend the night with somebody....but she said we have to go to church on Sunday. What do you do there ?

Hopefully not what Ashton did at my grandpa's funeral and asked me so who is the huge statue guy hanging above the 'stage'.

Personally I look at the supernatural in a theological AND scientific/technical standpoint. Which is why in the trumpet sound videos I brought up theological flaws in the trumpet trend as well as technical flaws.

I like to either come close to understanding why something happens, or straight up disprove it.

There are also completely delusional people who are atheists and outspoken skeptics.
